Thanks for sharing your great captures. It's neat to see Jamie and Moxie in the nest at the same time.

I captured this video of the chicks this morning.

Awww...thanks so much for the video, Carey! They are just adorable! :flirty:

I just realized that some of the captures show Jamie feeding. I'm really glad Moxie is letting him help with the chicks besides doing the hunting. We know how important it can be that the males know how to care for their babies, too!

that was exactly what I thought carly. It was if she said "Lights OUt!" and they just collapsed in slumber! :zzzzz

Thank you Carey!

The one facing the cam is about to fall asleep standing up! They must have just had a nice feed! Thanks, SGB. :loveshow:

Thanks for posting Carey's videos, SGB! Love them! This is the closest I've seen a cam to tiny chicks. Looks like Moxie feeds like another mother (Lil, maybe?) in that she feeds 1 chick at a time & doesn't stop til they're full!

That's a good catch Catwoman. Lil (my Aunt's name) had the same technique. I'll have to check but did we put her in the Hall of Fame? She was a great Falcon who sacrificed herself for her family when that time came. I'm sure SGB can tell us. Off to the Hall of Fame to check it out. Great memory. Thanks

Sorry I didn't reply before, but I was giving this some thought, Cheryl. She was/is a great falcon & if her body is ever recovered I would think she should go into the Hall of Fame. Although Lil is gone from her nest, we don't know that she's dead. That's most likely the case, but not necessarily. There are a number of instances where a falcon/tiercel knew it couldn't defeat its rival, so it just moved on. Remember Tasha at Gulf? She was seen in the area after Dori took over the nest & Tasha's 2 eggs (which hatched, what a miracle)! EC in San Jose was defeated by FC & simply moved to an adjoining territory.

I hope that we'll hear about Lil at a new nest with a new partner in the near future
!

Excellent point, I don't like to think of them as gone unless we have the bands. I prefer to believe they are out there somewhere. :girlyes:

OK I don't know if this has been posted yet, if it has sorry

Falcon naming deadline extended

News-Sentinel staff reports
Thursday, May 9, 2013 - 11:08 am
Indiana Michigan Power Co. has extended the deadline for naming Moxie and Jamie's peregrine falcon chicks.

The adults' four chicks recently hatched in the nesting box atop I&M's headquarters at One Summit Square.

I&M is asking classrooms grades 5 and under within Allen County to assist in the naming of these new baby chicks. Interested classes should submit one falcon name by email to Erica Putt (ehputt@aep.com) by May 16, three days later than previously announced. Submissions should include the name of the school, the grade level of the class, and the teacher's contact information.

The gender of the chicks, which hatched in the last couple of weeks, will not be known before they are banded on the leg with IDs by Indiana Department of Natural Resources biologists, so keep that in mind when submitting names. I&M will ask its social media followers to vote on their favorite name. Depending on the size of the classroom winners, one or more classes will have the opportunity to be present when the chicks are banded

I know I am not in the fifth grade or younger, but I sent an email asking them to consider naming 2 of the chicks Freedom and Roosevelt to honor Moxie and Jamie's predecessors. We'll see.
