I love the way the chicks always manage to find shade. Three are in the shade of the orange pole, and one's in the shade inside the nest box. So cute!

Reenie, you mentioned seeing one bobbing its head this morning. I saw one doing that yesterday too near the scrape and stick. I'm looking at all of the down it still has and telling it that it's too early for that and to just be patient!

Makes me nervous when I see them starting to do that.

I'M STARTING TO THINK NIECEY IS JUST AS NERVOUS AS WE ARE! MAYBE SHE SENSES SOMETHING? SHE NEVER SAT IN THE SUN LIKE THIS BEFORE. POOR GIRL, WAIT UNTIL THE EXCITEMENT STARTS :-(

She was chewing on the wood at the window one day this weekend. For whatever reason, I think she minds the heat terribly.

All of them are warm already. Hate to see them by 1. Sun is very warm. Was out hanging laundry and the first load was almost dry when I hung the second load.

There is no chick in the box, they are all down there getting fed in front of the window on the stills.

Just saw a pileated woodpecker at my suet feeder. Never saw one before. I thought it was one of those darn black birds til I saw his red head. Exciting!!!
