Orange is sacked out in the box again. That last video is what I'd call a food fight. Glad it happened in the box rather than out on the ledge. Toward the very end of the video, it looked like the boy had a foot.

Kim - Thanks from me too for today's videos.

    - That Orange sure has mastered the art of stealing food from her siblings and her parents! I really think she inherited her feisty spirit from her famous grandmother, "Mom," in Harrisburg.

    - And as for your last video, that was so darling seeing one of Orange's brothers snuggle up to her.

It's thanks to Craig - and your videos - that we can enjoy all of Orange's antics today.

Don't always get to see colors, but Blue is in the box right now and zonked in the upper right corner.

Looks like all four are in the box right now. :-) And now not all four. Orange was just very visible. Her feathers are really coming out now.

Kim, love the video of Orange and Blue fighting over food. Have you noticed that Orange always seems to be the instigator . . . and always seems to win? She's going to be one fierce falcon to reckon with when she finally takes to the sky.

She actually didn't win that one Ethel! I think that's the first attempt she's made that she hasn't won though! :)

It runs in the family. Just before 1:00 pm EDT today I was about to walk into Hercules Plaza where I work (across 13th St. from where Kim works) when I heard a familiar "Cack-Cack-Cack!" overhead. A peregrine falcon, Red Girl I think, was stroking fast, catching up to a red-tailed hawk gliding east. Very high and leaving town, but Red Girl wanted to leave an impression anyway--physical if possible, but forceful in any event: "Go and do not return!" She gained altitude on the hawk, dove and forced him to do likewise, both out of sight.

Apparently falcons take the view that redtails are not to be tolerated remotely close to where falcon chicks will fledge inside of a week.

My Son who works in the Chase Building saw one of them the other day, going past the Building.

Glad you saw Red Girl Greg. Now there is a Third Red Girl as of today. Red Girl's Niece?? Mom's Granddaughter?? Am trying to figure this out. Red Girl in Wilmington and Red Girl in HBG have the same father. Lil Dad. HELP??????? Red Girl from last year showed up in New Jersey earlier.

I looked at your website which reports that last year the (all female) chicks hatched April 20, 21 and 22 and fledged May 30 (two) and 31 (the other two). So about 40 days. Chicks this year hatched April 16 (three) and 19 (Orange). Adding 40 days to that says three should go May 26, although the two dudes could go a day or two earlier. Orange could go May 29 although she'll be so jealous of the others leaving that she might try to push it up a day.

Looked in a bird encyclopedia that I have here. It also says fledging happens between 35-42 days after hatching. Hope Orange doesn't try to fledge too soon.
