Looks like all four in the box right now! :-) I think Red Girl was feeding them in the upper left corner. She just left.

No fledges yet and I'm hoping it rains all day tomorrow since I have to work!

Yes Kim! Maybe that will keep them right where they are.

A juv Mississippi Kite flew over the nest site this afternoon and the "new guy" chased him off!!! Speaking of the "new guy", we will be having a naming contest at the Fledge Watch Event!

Even though he displaced CJ, he seems okay to me. He's on guard watching for predators, watching for the kids to fledge and catching a lot of food for them! Both of the adults were hanging close to the nest box today!

he must be an experienced male Kim.
But it will be cool to see CJ's kids fledge. they seem to be tough, so there will be a bit of DJ out there and maybe CJ also

White Boy flying and hopping around in the box right now.

Edit: A lot of activity now. Can see ones on the part of the ledge we can see spreading wings and hopping all around. OH Boy!

Orange developed more feathers overnight! She's in the box now, and just got company. Looks like her sister, but not completely sure. Orange just hopped up on the ledge.

It stopped raining and the sun is out kind of. Males (I'm assuming) are on edge of nest box ledge and there's no one around to watch them. :(

I am sending as many brain waves as possible to Delaware to tell those two males to stay put. It's not raining in Harrisburg, either. No sun here, though, just really heavy air.

I see 3 kids on ledge and adults circling around different areas. Probably trying to get the kids to fly...

I still can't believe fledge watch is upon us already - it seems way too soon! I did see two of the chicks in the nest box earlier . . .

Image

And I just saw another two in the box right a minute or so ago. Plus I saw Orange earlier - she's lost so much fluff that the only way I recognized her was catching sight of her orange band.

What a relief! Three in the box now, and it looks like the feet of the fourth chick on the ledge. I do hope they'll hold off flying off the ledge until the weekend.

P.S. Kim - I'll send you an email later today about when I can be there for the fledge watch.

I've been trying to watch as much as possible, but can't really be of much help from here. One is zonked in the box right now, and can see a tail on the ledge. From my experiences with fledge watch in Harrisburg, I do know that fledging usually happens in the morning, but not always. Red Girl fledged around 5:00 in the afternoon, but I missed it, as I was searching a parking garage for a missing juvie.

Thanks Jane. If fledging usually does happen in the early morning, then I think we might be safe for the rest of the day as none seem to have fledged this morning. (Let's just hope that one of the chicks hasn't inherited Red Girl's tendency to fledge in the late afternoon!)

Red Girl just served a giant brunch - that was one huge bird she brought in! And better yet, all four kids are still at home.

Great capture, Ethel. I am busy watching what is going on behind my house a lot. Next door neighbors are moving, and there's been a lot of disturbance out back by the Bluebird box, where there are babies. Adults are NOT happy campers.

I watched the feeding too. Hope my shots aren't duplicates.
I see that I managed to not capture the time stamp on any of them. Red Girl had to really hold on to that prey a time or two.
