I will try to remember to ask that next Tuesday at the Indy banding Susan. There was an newspaper article last week that peregrines may be taken off Indiana's endangered list, but I would imagine until that happens they will continue banding.

All I know is that Laurie (DOW, NE quadrant) was concerned at Canton, (before they collected the eyases) because she only had two Silver USFW Bands...Was worried she would not have enough if there were 3 or more females...
She said DOW was using Silver for females this year.... but at Cleveland they are purple...so maybe a regional thing...Ohio is broke up in 4 quadrants. NE, NW, SE, SW...

As for the status for Ohio peregrines...they are "threatened".... but in 2015 they get "reviewed"...Most likely, in Ohio, they will be removed from the "threatened" status, and so yes....the bandings will diminish then...

I do know they will stop tending the nestboxes....so.... in Canton, we are prepping for that....

I'm not looking forward to the day banding ends, but as was already pointed out, that's the price of success. I find it very interesting to know the history of each peregrine. On the flip side, it will be nice not to have to put the falcons or humans through the trauma of banding.

After reading about the listing of peregrines in Ohio, I was curious about how they're faring in PA. Reenie posted an article on yesterday's banding in Harrisburg & the biologist said they're still on the state's "endangered" list but that could be changed within the next decade.

Looks like banding will be 12-2 eastern time tomorrow. I'm leaving on vacation, but Carey's going to try to use the cam to get some shots of people working around the nest, and we may be able to get some video of the banding at some point as well.
