I'm waiting for her to move to see if another hatched or if they just moved the previously hatched shell around, because now it's by the date stamp!

No hatch yet, she finally moved. I did get a cute shot of the baby and another of the remaining eggs:

It doesn't look like any of the other eggs are going to hatch. :girlsad3: Guinevere and Zeus haven't been paying any attention to them, they have only been shielding the chick.

It might be a bit early to call no hatch. Based on the nesting calendar, I think the chick hatched a few days early. I had figured the "due date" for the first hatch as the 21st, based on using simple math. ( One month plus 10 days, like so many nests )

Ground report: Yesterday afternoon and last night, no birds to be seen. This morning at 6:45, someone was on the building mostly perching with a little preening thrown in. Then the bird circled and I think they switched nesting duties. This evening around 7:25 I saw someone circling round then landing on the outer ledge of the nest box. Facing the box, not moving much, but the lowered head makes me think maybe it was dinner time.

I may be losing access to the cam, :tissue: so I'll keep up ground duties here and rely on everyone else's reports and pics.

Every time I've checked today someone has been on the eggs, except to get up and stretch or switch shifts. It was also 90 here today, so I'm sure it didn't hurt them to not be sat on for a short amount of time.

:girlyes: Im with you, sbwatcher. Call me "Susie Sunshine", but I think Guinevere and Zeus have some more hatches coming... Isnt Zeus a riot when he is sitting on the eggs and the chick? I can tell hes trying to be careful with the little one, but he cranes his neck looking for Guinevere, then bends down gently to check on baby. So cute!

Had a chance to watch Zeus sitting on the eggs just now. Golly he is SO CUTE!!! :girlluv: Is it just me or does he remind any one else of Mitchell at Cobb Island? Anyway, he sits on his eggs and chick, always gazing out looking for Guinevere- well, except when he leans way down to check on little guy.... He actually got up from the eggs and leaped up on the ledge - probably got warm? Baby stirred just a bit, and the eggs looked intact, to me. Zeus jumped down and was looking at baby, - and the cam blacked out...

On my way in to the library, I noticed somebody sitting on the middle of the top east side of the CC building. Sitting pretty, a parent falcon enjoying the sun. Couldn't stay to watch because my cat has a vet appt. soon. He will be saying :gaaaaah: at the vet's office.

Bonus bird sighting: a heron (!) flying high over the heart of downtown South Bend yesterday. (Just a few blocks from the river, which is where (s)he was heading, I'm sure.

8:24 pm I was at someone's house, sneaked into their computer room, and caught Guinevere mid-feed, the first feed I have seen at this nest this year (other than Zeus' quick on-the-job snack posted by marineof2 ! ) Everything looked so wholesome, a maternal -looking falcon, a well-behaved chick, all clean and white, so clean you would think it was too young to poop yet.

Hey, SBwatcher - Ive been having really stinky luck with my old computer, and the cam freezing.... grrr. I was enjoying watching Guinevere come in and give Zeus hints that it was time for him to go-- and he didn't exactly jump off the nest :loveshow: He is so much fun to watch!
