3:49 - New male has moved back to side rail between main cam & cam 4.

Again, B is giving hard stare, holding still. Trying to incubate, closing eyes.

I, personally, don't view this as a "relaxed". I view this as a front....

Doesn't seem this bird is too quick to court Beauty. I would think he would try to bring her a gift. Any other times I've seen a new male come in, he has offered food...?

3:56 - male just called/whined. Still just sitting there.

B is alert again. Doesn't look like she's ready to move. She did not respond to his call.

I don't think she feels particularly threatened by him...if she did, she would not be dozing off..

It is strange that he hasn't brought a food gift yet...maybe that's why he was hunting so furiously...but, wasn't successful..

he is closer to the box...is that him I hear? i think B is ignoring him..her eyes are closed..

4:23 - male just went to beam in front of box. Bowing. Now to area between beam and box, looking in. B up, standing over eggs, wings spread fluffed up...

B just let him know... GET AWAY... She's not having it. All silently...

He just moved back to platform. and I think he just flew away..

Dang...I wish I had been recording that...it WAS strange...B puffed up like a porcupine..scared him off!!! next time he tries that, he'd better have food!!!

So... going back to the very beginning of the season when DC first came home... that way B was just puffed up... is the same "body language" she gave DC. But in this instance, she's protecting her eggs.

So Carly, I agree that Beauty's greeting of DC was hostile when he came home.

As for the interaction we just witnessed, I could see where this bird better be careful and tread very lightly, or B will kill him.

WanderingFalcon (Carol P.): DT. UT went after a pigeon over the river and hit it. Brian and I lost him over the library. Hope he brings in something for B.

I agree Carly.

And, quite honestly - taking into consideration B has eggs now, this bird is quiet compared to UT. UT was constantly whining at B...

And if B really knew this bird, and it was UT, she let him in the box previously and she mated with him... so I think she would have been a little more receptive to him. She is not showing ANY acceptance to this male.

...the flip to that is that she has not run him off either...I think we are in a state of limbo here...B has neither rejected or accepted him. She could have exploded from that box and run him off....I think we'll have an answer if he ever shows up with food...

I'm afraid my viewing time is drawing to a close. Have to go meet my sister-in-law in a few minutes...geeee, I should be excited about that..but, too much going on here!!!
