I'm glad you saw that Carolyn! She wasn't very gentle with this one either, but at least she put it under her & isn't counting toes & wings!

This shows the egg just before the hatch. (I didn't realize it was almost out at the time.)

This one doesn't seem as energetic as the other one. Maybe its the heat!

The new hatch seems much more active now. It was probably exhausted earlier from breaking out of its shell!

Now I'm thinking its possible that the third egg will hatch. It was cold when the eggs were laid, so they had to start incubating right away. There are 2 days between these hatches, so the 3rd might hatch in a couple of days. Not sure I like that idea cause it will be much smaller than the 1st one, but it isn't up to me.

She finally moved the food closer to the kids. I'm not concerned about the new hatch eating, but I want to see the older one get some & it appears that he is getting some now.

Edit: Now that the older chick turned around, I can see that he has food in his crop, so he got enough. & he just did a face plant, so he's full! :loveshow:

Well I don't know for sure but it looks like a lot more egg shell tonight, it is 2:43 nest time.

"S" has been on the chicks for a bit now & looking kind of skittish, alarm call for a few seconds & I've heard what sounds kind of like someone around the back maybe on the roof.

Couple switch overs, but no feedings so far. The chicks have been very vocal and hungry.
