Bird Cams Around the World

We didn't see him Carly, but I think I would have been more surprised if we did. When I saw the pictures of his wing, it looked like he had bruising and he no doubt is not up to snuff. I'm not an expert but based on the behavior we watched last year at the nest, after the fledge, Mo was MIA for a long time. She really handled it from that point on. He was maybe making food deliveries, but honestly Mystic is the better hunter. We caught no glimpse of him until Spring. Mystic won't hunt for him now with 4 juvies to feed and he probably can't hunt for anyone other than himself. If he is off healing it may be the best choice in the situation. I'm reserving judgment and any angst I feel based on the previous years behavior and hoping for the best.

The one odd thing I noticed today is when she went to that far communication tower with prey she caught right near the Canton Club....He (Mo) may be closer than we think!

No 3 had fledged this morning before we arrived at the roof. C & C spotted him leaving as they were coming in to town so he was readily spotted.

No 4 waited his turn on the corner of the ledge but an hour later he took flight, aimed for the tower, decided not to land there, did a circle and flew back to the Canton Club.


Then as usually happens when they all hit the air everyone starts taking short flights and popping up all over.

It's so difficult to tell who's who after they all start moving, but sometimes you just get a feeling.
Who had a bad landing on a smoke stack?


Who spent the night on the church roof?


And who went to the roof of the other parking garage and perched in full view of the whole bird world? Wish I have pictures of the smack down Mystic gave this particular juvie to get him off that location. She was dive bombing him to get him to move. Can't prove it it, but the name ICE comes to mind.

Mystic watched the boys and fed them at their various locations. Everyone was of fine feather one even managed to do a beautiful landing on the ledge. They were looking good.






It was a beautiful day and a great group of falcon lovers came together for a successful fledge watch. Can't be enough said about everyone that put their time and effort into this. Thanks to all for making the effort and showing up. They are safely in the air, no rescues required this year. It's in Mystic's capable talons now and she always shows up.

Glad for that man (that was measuring that roof) that Mystic drove her baby off that roof and she only Kackkked at him a bit from her throne...Otherwise he would have holding that clipboard in a weird fashion!

Do you think he felt funny with 6 human eyes and 10 peregrine eyes on him? LOL ....Nothing like that "I'm being watched feeling!!"

Thanks everyone. Excellent point SGB. It would have been great to see him today , all better, participating, flying and feeding juvies. But from the photos, his wing did take a beating. He's had medication and time to rest and kept quiet in a cage. He may need to heal in the sun, get in some wing time and stay out of the way till Mystic has completed her mission. He has possibly made a very wise choice. Last year he was pretty much gone till spring. We joked that he had gone to Disney World. I'm going to remain positive and hopeful for him.

Me too Cheryl! He has not fed the young before...this year or last....He tempted one with food before...but to my memory...Mystic...this year and last year...controlled his moves around the young....I don't doubt for a minute She knows he is young...He is barely two years old...And that youth is gonna pull him through!

This is written on 6/5/13 about Tuesday as I couldn't log on last night : Hey gang! Ha- Matrix, you ask if I, one of the original Fair Ladies, got sunburned?? Well, it might have gone better if I had put sunscreen on up next to my hairline, Ive got a lovely circle of red around the edges of my face. All those hours of looking up into the sun to espy one of the juvies... Actually my neck hurts more - from craning it 9 hours on Monday, and Tuesday.... But SO worth it !!!! So GREAT watching the fledge with you guys, Cheryl and Matrix!! And Thanks to the Saladins for coming down to help!!
I was thinking of what I could add as to my impressions about yesterday. Well, I am concerned about Ice.... The poor lad has no sense of good choices vs bad choices, no sense of direction, no sense of danger... When he was on that building where a man was working on a lower level, he could not understand why Mystic was diving on him. He'd duck, squawk, and then pop right back again. After the first few times, I had to smile, because it reminded me of some kind of Juvie Whakamole.... Finally he flew, but in the totally WRONG direction! Cheryl and I watched and watched - but no sign of Ice. Matrix arrived after work, helping scan the skies. The other 3 juvies started whining, and Mystic took off from her tower.... Time passed - where were they? Then the (smarter) juvies started yelling. Looking to the west, we saw Mystic come coasting in. Wait ! What was that? There's a juvie on the court building! Ice is back! I really think Mystic went out to get him, and we didn't see because we were watching her... She is such a good mom. Somehow I feel she is doing the right thing by not allowing Mo with the kids. Maybe because an intruder would sense Mo's vulnerability and be more likely to attack Mo and the kids? I don't know, but Mystic is very smart. She is doing what she feels is right....Hang in there, Mo !! We still love you!! Meanwhile anyone have a micro sized GPS unit Ice can use?

Canton this morn... 7am all 4 fed with Mystic on mast above. Mo appeared on nest building, but Mystic drove him out. Another pigeon fed to all 4 around 11am. More info. and pics later... will catch up tonight.

He isn't allowed to help her!! LOL!! MYSTIC RULES! Really...if it were not for a neccesary part of life...I think she would prefer to be a single mom...

although I do not like the fact she is driving him off, I am glad he was seen. Mystic knows who he is, so this puzzles me. She knows he is not an intruder.

Stopped in at 6 pm...had 4 juvies on the court building roof...Waited about an hour when heard voices behind me...Two from the Canton FB page came to view the sight of falcon babies doing there thing! Lisa and Deb, it was Very Nice to meet you! Hope you pics came out and let us know if they did...we'll share them if you don't mind!

Well... Mystic and Mo were both absent for the first hour or so...the boys were mostly sleeping....I forgot to turn my camera off last night so no pics! Burning the candle at both ends so to speak!
after Lisa and Deb had been there for a bit...we heard the boys all start screeching....Food was on it's way!! Glanced at them with binocs to see where they were looking and of course...south...Mystic's hunting grounds...
Turned and immediatly saw something I've not seen before!!!!!! 3 large birds approaching low..... level with the top of the parking garage !! As the lead bird came into my focus it was Mystic...carrying something...hot on her tail was two crows!!! WOW..They saw us standing there and Mystic passed right by us...and the crows veered away...

HHHMMMM...did she know if she went by us the crows would shy away???? Gotta wonder... as I've NEVER seen her come in like that...that CLOSE! She could not make it up to the court building roof and veered away toward the Canton Club...She could not gain enough height to go there and she veered downtown and behind the First ladies building...(Cant see where beyond that)...Started to think and get a bit concerned that maybe this was Mo.....Soon though she reappeared between the Huntington and McKinley Grand....She now had height!!
She went up to the Court Building...but did a fly by past the juvies and went to a lower ledge on the CC to try to get the juvies to follow her....Well, One did and landed down the ledge from her....One popped up on the First Ladies building chimney...The other two went to the roof of the CC...clear to the top!...With one immediatley going back to the court building...The other flew around the CC and GLIDED...(First time seeing that of these boys) YYEEAAA!!!
Mystic fed the one on the lower ledge...Another tried again to go to her, but flapped to much and ended up on top of CC again...
The one theat glided, found leftovers on the kitchen roof and mantled...eating away...The one on FLB took off....clung like a bat to the wall off CC..then let go and went back to Court Building! When he arrived he just missed the little metal building roof and we could hear him scratch as he fell down the side and onto the roof...WELL...any guesses as to who this was?! I'm betting it was Ice!! LOL
Mystic came over to him then...and fed him...till he was stuffed...She kept trying to get him to take another bite...but he was full...During his feeding the one that was on the CC made a trip to get to her on the Court Build...Again...to much flapping! He then was so high above her he tried to land on the antenna...woopsssiiii! He missed, and narrowly missed smacking his wings on the tension wires...UUUGGGHHH!!
He circled and ended up plunking down on the corner where Mystic stashed food....He promptly started food beeging calling...Mystic responded...and went directly to him...As she started to feed he slipped down into the gutter...OH BOY..did that make him mad!! Scream...scream scream!!! We could only see wings flapping as he tried to scramble up the side of the copper gutter!! LOL..Mystic actually tried to lean down in to feed him....but the wingtips flapping moved down away from her a bit...then suddenly...he pops up screaming on the edge...Where he sat waiting for HER to come to him....Poor Boy!! You could tell he was tired...and come to him she did!!! Mystic is such a good mom!!
After feeding she promptly dropped what was left ( woops... the parking lot below was full ) and flew to the tower on the court building...
No siting of Maurice...however...I noticed that the far north communication tower had NO starlings or pigeons perched on it like normal....It is about a half mile away...so I am betting he is up there.
Mystic did glance over there many times...

Chris posted an update on their Facebook page, commentary and photos, on her observations this morning. Mystic is still not letting Mo back in and continues to be hostile towards him. This may take sometime to play out.
