Well, the only positive thing I can think of is that they are both up against the front of the box, out of view...maybe right below where Harriet is standing, maybe?

Well, they've pulled back...I'm still not really seeing the chicks..I'm a little worried. I'm not sure why they would pull back vs zooming in, trying to find them..unless they did that and I probably missed it.

it says it is currently 96 degrees in Richmond...Oh dear..can chicks even handle that?

Gosh, I feel like all I ever say is "I'm sorry". This is so sad. I'm so sorry for all the people who follow this nest and for this pair.

In the past captures...the 22cnd seemed to be the downhill day that the pink healthy look to them... went away..
Really bizzare that the head looks wounded in the one pic...
Hope the necropsy locates something...

This is just very disturbing... :gaaaaah:

This is just devastating news. :cryinggirl: Like the rest of you, I was hopeful that these babies would survive. It wouldn't surprise me to hear that the heat was to blame since they only had that thin later of down to insulate them. There were other chicks born late at this nest, though, but maybe it didn't get quite as hot until their feathers had grown in. RIP little ones. :sorrow: :sorrow:

What a sad day in Richmond. I talked to Sergio today and the biologists are as sad as we are about this. They watch them every day too and also saw how healthy they were. I'm not sure what to think about the little one's wounds since they were always well fed. I really think the scorching heat at the wrong time (2 weeks old) got to these two, but at least they found one of the chicks so they can do a necropsy. They will not have the results back on the egg for a while yet. Boy is Richmond a tough place to be a falcon watcher :girlsad3:

Barb, so sorry for you & for the biologists & other people who do what they can to take care of these kids. Ferenz got a picture of a feeding that day, but maybe the babes were too lethargic from the heat to want to eat... :tissue:
