I checked on this cam & saw all the stuff scattered but no workers. I thought, "geez, I hope they're not going to leave this area a mess", then the guy stepped into view. So they are still working here--thank goodness!

Good catch, Gingersnap! That vulture is huge! :o

They must have been working on the VA cams, cause like SGB, I wasn't able to get any of them a little bit ago!

WOW if that's a vulture, don't they only come around when they smell
something dead? If that's the case, maybe the DGIF better change all
the gravel in the nest box because maybe it is loaded with bacteria and
germs if it attracted a vulture. :?:

These vultures are always around the area. I know they do in the osprey nest at Blackwater Refuge. I don't think gravel is a very attractive nest, but there might be some food remains in there.

Great to see the pen is gone :!:
That visitor is a great sighting to, for me, because we do not have them here.
Can see now how huge they are indeed :o

That scared me! I thought they had white on their wings? Had two flying low over my lil dog yesterday and I kept waving them away. One got lower and lower! OMG. Do they pick up live animals?

obxbarb, thank you :loveheart:

Turkey Vultures kill NOTHING...They clean up...so the world is a better place.

THINK ABOUT IT, TURKEY VULTURES DO NOT KILL. :D They make falcon nests safer, and save the DGIF all that time and money cleaning up leftover rotting bird parts. They are welcome on osprey nests, cleaning up fish, or whatever has be left by seasonal migrants. And, that is just the beginning of the good Turkey Vultures, all vultures, do for our planet.

Turkey Vultures are also beautiful in flight...as are their larger cousins the California Condor...they have riding thermals perfected :D

I guess this falls into that "all creatures great and small...." thing I see on this forum...can't remember where at the moment.

JAZZEL ;)

Well I don't know if it is because of the weather but it looks alot cleaner there today
If you look at the other pictures it look alot different in color in the gravel but it could just be wet
