Welcome SGB. Can't say enough about C & C, what they know and what they do. They are always on the ground observing. I pinch myself every time they show up. We are lucky to be able to tap in to their knowledge.
Last year we did see Mo fly with a juvie when it fledged and dangle food in front of one to get it off a ledge. Then he was gone. Matrix observed that he was starting to molt then. Mystic is really hands on with her babies and did most of the training herself.
Mo's predecessor, Maverick, still has a reputation as being a fierce defender. As Mo is learning from Mystic, Mystic learned from Maverick. Mo isn't quite the same in that area. Mystic is also the better hunter.
It may be in Mo's best interest to let her finish her job and hang on the outskirts. At least he is still in the area even if he isn't being allowed too close. This is an interesting release scenario with two juvies having fledged before he came back. All we can do now is watch, wait and observe. I'm pretty partial to the little guy so I'm going to remain hopeful that as the juvies get more seasoned, Mystic will lighten up and he'll get back in her good graces. This is going to be a great opportunity to study their behavior.

Interesting Carly. Wouldn't it be neat if we could read their thoughts? We were spectating as to whether she can sense he is in a weakened condition and no help at this point in time. Guess we have to wait and see how it plays out,

Really interesting points! I think maybe a mix of it all!

Did anyone notice his frayed tail and wing feathers had been preened and "fixed" since his release. Very evident in Chris's pictures from yesterday....

Sick or hurt birds don't preen or take care of their feathers..giving them a rough appearance on top of being listless....

Maurice is showing none of that in the pics from yesterday!! :ohyes:

I noticed that Matrix but you are correct in that he seemed to have taken care of that after he was released. He looked stronger after being out and about.

Those aerials that Chris got were awesome...I wonder what would happen if Mo presented Mystic with a food gift? I do hope he's eating ok..

Great pics of the kids too!!

Yes...My mind was fried on the garage last weekend...and then frozen today! :thud The year is half over and I'm still waiting for summer to come for a bit longer than two days!

Not sure if they will revisit the nestbox...This site has the two towers...the prefer those high places, so if they do come back to the box, it will be briefly.

Joined Cheryl up on the garage this cold, gray morning...about 10am..Cheryl had the 4 plus Mystic found on Mystic's favourite perch...the AEP tower...Well...this is the stage where we know we are going to see less and less of the juvies...That tower is huge and when they get over there...it looks close...but it isn't!!
We were there for a while, when the boy's decided it was boring over there, and one by one they came to the Court tower...and the Canton Club roof...Mystic went on several unsuccessful hunts toward the Key Bank Building...and she did have to drive off another Turkey Vulture, which ended up smacking her with it's wing...It came into the red hot zone over the top of the Canton Club Building...Maybe why Mystic got smacked, as she appeared to really go after it while the juvies were right below...
(Pics were out of foucus, Cheryl, but it was obvious in one pic, and that is why she gave up chasing it...)

A Great Blue Heron came over later when Mystic was out hunting with a free pass over the CC...It was maybe shaking a bit, since it got screamed at from below by a angry juvie! LOL

Mystic at one point was knocked off the CC light by a juvie....Wonder where he learned that move?
It seemed to cause a chain reaction among the juvies, in that suddenly they were all flying about chasing each other and playing on the wing...So much fun to watch!! They are gliding really well now...but the landings still seem to need a bit of fine tuning...One did crash land into the metal building on top of the Court building...Cheryl gasped and he appeared over on the edge after a bit, and took off again...(Come on Cheryl...these boy's are Mo's!!....Gonna take alot more than a lil old crash to bring them down...lol)

Mystic than appeared at the very top of the AEP tower briefly, and while Cheryl went to the ladies room..Mystic went west and caught something...and brought it back to the AEP tower. The boys were below her and three had to figure out how to get up to her...Off two went and circled around to gain height...and successfully got up to her. One from the other parking garage roof flew over after the other two...and the fourth stayed hidden on the tower platform...He must have fed earlier, as he did not participate in the feed...He is in the background of one of the pics of two of the flying juvies...Would have missed him, had not Cheyl found him earlier... before reviewing the pics.

All in all it was incredible to see what a couple of day's does for the flight skills of the young...

We did not see Maurice...But he is out there on the fringes!!...

It was a great fall morning in Oh. Matrix may have dozed off so thank goodness we are photobucket friends.
You took some great pictures today and since I'm a night Owl I'm stealing and doing a post for you.
The boys have found their Mom's favorite spots.

We got to see them playing in the air. They were chasing and diving at each other. Play that will serve them well later.

They are certainly fun to watch, although I'm starting to have empty nest syndrome. They are still overshooting some landings, but have gained so much in a few days. Flying like champions. Still hopeful for Mo I think Mystic is just a hands on Mom and we can relate to that. Maybe she will always have that attitude, might be her way. We will be waiting for him to reappear.

Loved the pictures & report, Matrix & Cheryl! I used to get empty nest syndrome, but we have so many nests with cams to watch now that there are still nests whose eggs haven't hatched yet & chicks of various ages to watch. We'll have a couple of late nests to watch this year (hopefully) because the peregrines have re-clutched--Richmond & Lansing. That will probably take us up to nesting season in Australia! If you want to watch/listen to some babies on cam that are about the same age as yours, the Harrisburg kids have been coming home to the ledge every night.

What an afternoon! If I didn't see (and have Cheryl to back me up) with my own eyes, the feats of aerial display's we saw this afternoon...I would not believe it...I just Cannot Believe it was just last weekend that these boy's fledged!!! One in particular gave Mystic a run for her money when it came to keeping up with her...She normally soared the thermals last year to escape the juvies...Not so this year!!...All four went with her up and up until we could not see them!!! Then the boy's came down...some doing stoops...landing near and on the tip top of the AEP tower...Chasing and swiping at each other...SUCH PLAY!
At one point two locked talons near the downtown area and the momentum threw one down through the sky...making Cheryl worried!!!
Not sure if that was the first time they went up in the sky so high up...but, it was absolutely breathtaking! And I'm not sure how Cheryl feels, but I am SO Proud of the rapid progress these four have made...Beautiful landings today...one had a slip off of the Canton Club wall ornament, but other than that they just blew my mind with their manuvers!! AND...Mystic cannot slip by unnoticed with these four...I really like the screams of FOOD- FOOOD- FOOOD!!!...whenever and wherever Mystic makes her appearance...whether it be clear across town from the tower... or off to the south...coming in to the tower...It is like having Falcon Radar...
Look to the juvies...see where they are looking...and you'll find Mystic...Isn't it supposed to be the other way around??!! LOL! Of Course...I enjoyed my time with fellow falcon buddy..Cheryl! Vacation is over... but the juvies lives are just starting!!!

Glad to hear that your youngsters are doing so well & that you've been able to observe them in action! People who think nature is boring haven't observed peregrines! Thanks for sharing your great pictures with us! :hapdance:
