Finally a good arrangement to count the eggs!
2 new and 4 old...I THINK! LOL!!!

Image

At least it was an old one she missed....He prefers to not incubate those when he is on duty...Or maybe the old eggs are dried out... and pop out from under them... like ping pong balls.... :teehee:

BlackDog:

Shift Change in morning ...He was clearly too full to incubate...so he stood by for a few then went back on the eggs...She came back shortly...She is now doing most of the incubation...

One egg is half dark brown and half pale brown...Looks like an easter egg!!!...

I wonder if these eggs are going to hatch, it sure is going to be a late fledge if they do. And here is a question will the chicks be OK with it being so late in the season?

Not at all sure Kitten!
Tundra Falcons can do it in short time frames...they are hatching now...at least that is what I read...lol..
If she doesn't get aggressive with them like she did the last set...they may have a chance...(she has me suspicious)...
This is sure a learning curve!!

Thanks Matrix I'm still learning after all these years.
I just went to RRP forum, and asked what Bob's thoughts are now :teehee:

Me too K.F.! If I knew it all...I'd find something else! Hope he looks at it differently now...Even if they don't hatch...she seems "different" somehow...and I don't mean in appearance...lol...Would love to have been in college and had this pair as a research subject!!

Well...I appears Brent has given up.... (By looking at his shift in the dallies today...the most he did was sit by the eggs)

She has not given up though...which is more bizarre yet!

Trying to figure out a hatch date...I am guessing at the 10th of august...but everyone here knows, or will know... I am off every time.. LOL!!

That what Amy said at RRP forum, the way she says it I'm thinking she still doesn't think there are new eggs

I agree kitten, after all these years of observing we all are experts to a certain level. And we most certainly can count :teehee:

HI DEF!!

Yesterday at this hot mess of a nest...

Image

I wonder just how bad the old eggs smell..one has been rolled away..the two newer eggs and the two tone egg are still there...

Theve been off most of the day today, so far, with a very wet falcon this morning incubating, and from the bit of yesterday left... not much incubation either...
Image

The only eggs that appear to have been moved from yesterday....are the two dark ones...I bet they have/had chicks in them!! Hope they collect these eggs and test 'em....

This has been a "weird" nest for the last two seasons. So many eggs . . .

hot mess of a nest is right...

Thanks everyone..I've been checking in on this nest everyday, wondering what the heck will happen next. Hopefully, there will be NO hatches here since its been so crazy...

Currently, nobody is home, except the eggs...and I'm thinking I'm seeing 6 eggs right now~a little hard to tell..This certainly would be some eggs that I would want to test for toxins (not that I'm even gonna suggest that at RRP)

Strange, strange year..yet again at King...
