Thank You Everyone....Ice was the clown of the crew this year...and those are the ones that I tend to get attached to the most...I am just hoping it was instant.

Onward and Upward....

Gotta hand it to the AEP and their communication tower! What a playground! The Trio was there the entire time I visited, late morning into early afternoon. Mostly having a siesta... but at one point two headed out for the I-77/30 interchange and came back to the tower shortly....One down low on the tower, wanted to be higher, and tried circling around downtown to get high...and he did, but lacked confidence to keep his grip on the walkway edge. He then circled away and went back lower, while Mystic came in and landed a couple of "rungs" above him...while the two others disappeared into the walkway at the top. One of the boys played King of the Castle by landing on the red strobe light at the top briefly!... Little does he know...This Castle is his mother's, and Mystic uses it to keep her aware of everything around her...Being the tallest structure in the area, she has a 360 view of Canton and any incoming prey ... or competition.....

One of the boy's did not quite make it to the top...he flew over me and landed again...but lower...

Great pictures Matrix. As much time as we've spent looking at that tower, I still have to study it to find the Falcon.

I wonder just how tall it really is? If the Canton Club is 14 stories, and the AEP tower dwarfs it...HHmmmm...

Catwoman...You should have seen Cheryl and I last year at this stage...I think we burned holes in our eyeballs trying to see them thru our binocs...Oh...Good Times!!!!!!!!

What is also interesting is you sure can HEAR them up there!! THEN..... they pull the classic...I'm over on THIS building behind You!!!!!!........ falcon tricks.... and you about twist your neck off when they scream from behind ya!!

ANOTHER Juvie is dead in Canton....Sketch..37/R...Was Found by the CPD.....per C&C's message on their facebook....

I really find this pretty weird and am going to hold my thoughts (speculations)...for NOW. Mostly because No one saw what happened...and I'm going to have to spend alot of time there... to see if I'm correct.

So very sorry to hear about Sketch.



You don't suspect Mo do you?

I am not thinking Mo, I was thinking another male in territory.
I was going to mention that when first one was deceased, but did not want to speculate.
I know when a new male came into our territory, 2 years ago, when ours was injured , he chased after all our kids.
the difference was, they were about a month fledged and could fly real well. we never saw our kids after and hoped R was still helping them.

We have lost Sketch ?? How awful - I cant believe it !! Matrix, I hope you can get to the bottom of this... It won't bring our beautiful boys back, but it would give us some closure.... Soar high, Sketch...

I thought this strange that we lost two in such a short period of time...Although we will never know for sure what caused the two to crash, C&C's experience tells us it is most likely related to learning to hunt behaviours...I have a couple of pics to solidify that...
As well as a couple theories of my own...two of which were blanked out this afternoon and evening.

1.-Mystic was there..so that eliminated the thought that maybe something happened to her..
2.-and the other was what appeared to be a subadult in some pics from saturday..Since there is distance in them, It was most likely one of our juvies... that appeared like a subadult...In the pics I'll put up on the Canton Facebook later... you'll see one has lightened in colour quite a bit... when they are side by side in the pic...

I am wondering about the crows...Are they chasing the boys? We saw in C&C's pics the juvies harasing the crows and I saw the crows after Mystic that one day as she came in with prey...Thought they could be chasing the boys and making them distracted enough to hit the windows...The crows were there tonight..although no activity from them.

I was also wondering about Mo or a new male...As you'll see... We have either one or the other....

We also have a late afternoon mirror effect this time of year that I had not noticed before...Sunlight hitting the Huntington windows reflecting back to the Court Building (police D Building) and creating a perfect image that like I said...I had not noticed before...

Could be any number of these or none at all...Will probably never know unless someone actually saw the act(s)..
But human nature wants try try to solve the problem...so forgive me if this seems crazy...
None of the theories or facts will bring back the two lost...but trying to understand why or what may have happened.... is what I am trying to bring to the table...mostly because it helps me get over the loss...

Thanks for checking on them. I guess we can watch, rescue, get them back to square one if need be, but we can't control what happens when they get in the air. We have been watching the last two years and as far as we know all disbursed last year. This year we became more involved., rallied the troops, had a good fledge, and then sorrow. Everyone on this site has experienced this and knows it's bound to happen. Which site, which year? We all share happiness and sorrow. It's what we do. We come together as a group, we hope for the best, we handle the worse, we comfort each other, and we move on. We are no more in control of this than the sun rising and setting. We do our best, we give it our all, and we live with nature. We have no choice in the decisions or there would be 20 million falcons in the air. They would all live and thrive. Nature has a way
with them and with us. At least they flew and I am oh so envious. How much we can learn from the Falcon. Don't let the teaching be wasted on us. We're all together for a reason.

Matrix , thanks for checking things out. I would have done same thing. We try and think things through and wonder if we could have done more.And Cheryl, very eloquent.

I organized and have done falcon watch for 5 years now. It does not get any easier. My Peter still gets upset when he thinks of our losses, but you know we have done so many rescues , that went onto migration. We can rescue them at the start , but we have no control when they start hitting high speeds.

Our biologists do not name birds here, they say it is easier that way. WE put color tape on them and they are Rg or BB etc.

We enjoy watching them fly and soar and talon play and play tag and chase after food, and their first catch from mom , is just incredible. but I close my eyes sometimes and hold my breath. Because they go at such speeds.
everyone here who knows me, knows I cry with each death but I laugh at the antics and the successes.
I know in my heart , that this is nature. I always say, I could accept it more if they were back in nature.
so please know , we feel your pain, but have rejoiced in your success.
We are all here to learn an d support each other.
