Outstanding photo ljames!!

Talking about food I believe when the there is plenty of "fish" being
brought into the nest the siblings are not as likely to
peck each other or bully as much.

I agree! Thanks, ljames, for the great picture of Koo.

And thanks, Beth, for your earlier post of that gorgeous osprey head.

SGB. Yes, well I never intended to watch eagles, owls, or osprey. What can I say, I have a soft spot for underdogs. Koo has stolen my heart, and if I can, I'm gonna see it through til the end. I want to be a witness to his life, good or bad.

Amen to that!!! I'm always drawn back to see how he's doing....I think he can do it!!! I just wish he didn't have to migrate....that's tough for ALL the kids...I hope he will travel with his siblings...

Koo woke up alone this morning. He took a five minute flight. His big sister/brother landed and left twice while he was gone, then left again when he returned. I tried to take pictures but had forgotten that I had a dvd in the computer and it wouldn't let me capture.

Koo has captured many hearts with his courage and determination. He certainly has mine!

Ospreys do not migrate in groups, unless they happen to run into each other capturing an upper air current. Koo, if he starts the migration, will be on his own and will have to feed himself.

These are the facts, folks...

I don't know about ospreys and their behavior, I have recently been familiar with the situation of Koo and the family. I read about the nest last year, and how the eagle killed the chicks, at least most of them. I have been following the camera for the last few weeks, and also the discussion in Finnish, the site is http://www.saaristomeri.info/keskustelu ... orum_id=20 , which I'm sure you already know. There are hundreads of persons taking part in this discussion, and Koo has absolutely captured the heart of all of us Finns following him(her). By the way, do you know, what Koo means. It is simply the everyday language expression of the third ( Yy= yksi= first, Kaa= kaksi= second, Koo=kolme= third). Believe me, Koo's faith will not be forgotten, whatever happens. I'm so happy, that there are people around the world, who care about this beautiful young animal, whose facial expressions are unforgettable (right now, 5.42. eastern european time, Koo alone surrounded by morning fog)

Hello newandworried :grwelcom
Koo means third? How sweet. I can only imagine all the Finns following this site. We may not speak your language, but we sure have a common bond, and it's name is Koo. We, along with all of you, are hoping and praying that he will make it. I have been watching him too. Looks kinda lonely in there, doesn't he? I kept hoping that his mom would come and feed him and maybe she will later, but for now, I must turn in for the night. Thanks for joining our forum. We have someone who can speak Finnish. :cheer

:welcome Welcome to our forum, newandworried! Yes, Koo has captured the hearts of many of us here - and around the world - who are hoping for the best for this brave osprey chick.

P.S. Thanks so much for explaining to us the meaning of all the chicks names in Finnish.

:thanku newandworried, for the explanation of the names...and welcome to the forum!!...we have all become so attached to this nest and to Koo!!! We are all so hoping that somehow he will make it...and while I am trying to keep a positive attitude, there are many fears going through my head..he is the only one in the nest right now...I wish he were out and about getting a fishing lesson from mom and dad...

:welcome Hello, newandworried. It is so good to have someone from your country to help us with the language and tell us about the nest news there!
Hope everyone keeps the Faith. I'm sure Koo is not worried----he/she doesn't know there's a problem. Doing the very best he/she can. :loveheart2:

Koo had been alone in the nest for quite awhile. Sib came in and Koo decided to fly...
