All 3 chicks still frozen in the box..

I know! I think the babies still look out of sorts. I bet it is all so traumatic - this banding business. I bet it knocks the wind out of their sails. Hopefully in a couple of hours it will all seem like a bad dream to them.

Reading the reports from this morning. Interesting that the banders use an umbrella for protection from the furious adults. In Harrisburg it's a broom. Our adults in Harrisburg were having fits for several hours after the banding was over. And unless it's not live video, both adults are sitting calmly on the ledge as of 12:42 eastern time.

All chicks all seem to be napping now...Parents still present and watchful.

I agree that the "show and tell" just prolongs the trauma to the falcon family,
and wish they would just band on the ledge near the box and get it over with.
(like San Jose does) :impat:

I guess it is a kind of trade-off to help raise awareness.

I wonder why they didn't take the unhatched egg . . . Great coverage of the event!
I can understand that they do it this way to get the children interested and involved but . . . Good thing the falcons do not dwell on it and get back to normal rather quick.

feed going on now, great view!
Last year they left the unhatched eggs as well. Apparently the wildlife authorities
have to give permission to remove the eggs, and it seems permission was not given.

I am glad that I am not the only confused person about the gender of the second one banded.

I thought we were voting on names - was there a vote?
