LEDGING!!!

May 23 Friday
Isnt it too soon? When I woke up and turned cam on - 3 pefa chix were asleep in a pile and one was
strolling the ledge, wingercizing up there and preening! I bet its Tinker, the little male!
Males so often fledge first, are smaller, and flight feathers come in sooner. Parent there too.

3 females 1 male at Notts - 3 males and 1 female at Wilmington = do they have passports? :)
LQQK at the BROWN juvie coloring coming in!
Tinker perches while Inqi goes to the roof below, no ledge for her today!
Ah, as I type Inqi fly-hops back up into box
Yuk - the roof is a swimming pool from the heavy rains! Inqi slopped thru that standing water.
After napping awhile, one jumped down onto roof and ran under cam outta view too fast for me to snip.
Then back and - FLAP! - he is back in box - no problem. Scary how close to fledge -
now up on rooof

I dont think there is space for wings on ledge going AWAY from cam,
so I suppose we will see the kids flying toward us real soon - today? tomorrow?

I wonder if the kids dont feel so whooppee today.
First snip they asleep, parents on ledge
Snip 2 parent feeding - kids lying down. One pooped in the nest instead of shooting over the side
Later - O NOW they are HUNGRY, and screaming - as parent flings feathers everywhere

Darn if they didnt all get out of the box and along the way down the roof before I could snip!

Note white on back of parents head - saw that on the Wilmington male too.
This is the male chick back in box (eewww!) and he is panting - parent seems concerned

May 24 Saturday soaking rain LEDGING AGAIN!!!

3 wet birds, 3 wet birds - see how they're soaked, see how they're soaked!
Yelling and screaming to Mom n Dad
Me n my siblings are getting mad
This is the worst rain we ever had
Said 3 wet birds

Their brown juvie breasts show up so nicely when they are soaked -
otherwise they look black n white to me
One of th females is standing in the water pooled on the roof. This cant be good for them - no shelter.
Very nice snip of parent
One keeps debating going back UP onto the upper ledge - glad its not!

3 on the ledge! They have the edge!
4 has a looksee and sez - NOPE not me!
Maybe I can dry off up there. 3 went up, 2 came down

May 25 winnnnddyyy SONday
lozo - 1 went UP onto the ledge, the others went down onto the roof below -
very nice long runway for them to safely flap n fly n play! :)
All were in the (dirty) nestbox when I connected this morning.
Its so windy I am a little concerned a gust could sweep them off that ledge - but - they are FALCONS!

I only see 1 chick - outside box - preening and preening, like she hadnt preened in a year - well - a week.
1 acts close to fledge but - its too soon for goodness sake!
