Sorry I am Late posting this! (Pics on the FB page) Its Scary that fledge watch is in little over a week!!
5/29/14 Watch:
Headed downtown yesterday to see why Mystic was hanging out inside the nestbox with the "kids"...thought it was odd how she wouldn't leave the box for over an hour. Coming into downtown, spotted a peregrine on the antennae panels on the CC. When i got to the top of the garage, there was a peregrine flying from the Huntington back to the nestbox. Called Cheryl to tell me who was on cam in the box. It was Mystic and she was back to hanging out inside the box.
Had no sign of Mo, until a while later, around 1:30 Mo came sailing around the CC and he laned on the porch. Mystic and the trio set up a screech fest and Mystic barrelled out of the box, past Mo wailing and flew to the Huntington antennae...
It seems perhpas Mystic was counting on Mo looking for her and came to check the box for her, because she never went back in after he experienced the trio begging for food, after she left him sitting there on the porch...he immediatley went hunting after seeing the trio hungry. Mystic hung out in the shade on the little Huntington antennae while he was hunting. Soon she took of North and I lost track of her, until I heard the adults above me...A food tranfer took place high up above and I totally missed it!! They then went to the AEP tower, both landed and then Mystic came back to the box with the bird Mo caught.
After feeding Mystic went to the PB antennae and perched. Suddenly and silently, she took off and began a spiral up...(seen this before...something was intruding) Higher and Higher she went to become a dot...and then, as i was looking at her through the lens, in the background I saw two birds with one diving on the other. Focused the camera off her and on them, and it appeared to be Mo dive boming a hawk. Caught a few silouette pics of the diving, then lots them in the lens and colud not find anyone....
After 15 minutes or so...saw a falcon on the AEP tower, and things were quiet, and felt satisfied that all was well and I left...
