I've about gone nuts worrying about the small one here but it is ok so far. I did see it get some bites. The bigger ones were obviously stuffed, but couldn't see the little one's crop

I didn't even know there was a 4th chick...when did that happen????!! I check on this nest almost every day and only see a chick pile...wow, what a surprise!!

Thanks for the coverage of the Red Wing nest, Shepherd...as sad as it is that little bit didn't make it, it appears the other 3 are looking strong (knock on wood). I shudder to think what we would be seeing right now if Amy had not gone up there to treat the chicks.

RE: Savanna/Consolidated Grain/Stewards (whatever we call it) No sign of the 3 chicks or the unhatched egg..and now the cam is off line (it was still streaming around 7 pm eastern. I've posted on their facebook page and they have been responsive. They are going to try to figure out what the status of the chicks are~ hopefully tomorrow (Friday)

Bremmer trio, they are all over this box. The one in the bottom left corner just wouldn't come out no matter how much I beg it :teehee:

RE: Stewards/consolidated grain/savanna

I know we don't watch this nest much, but did find out a biologist is heading to the site today to check on the status of the 3 chicks...and hopefully to band. More later.

sky - I was hoping you had NOT seen that.
Yes bitsy was barely alive this morning but not now.
Mom will either remove him from nest today or feed him to siblings.
Its the way of nature. Frankly, its astonishing 3 are thriving due to Amy -
or none would have. I had decided NOT to mention it.

:tissue: :sorrow:

So cute! One resting his head, one sprawled

Baby was stuffed today, very full crop. Look at that chick walking down the ramp.

SGB, I'll try to look back at my pictures to see when 4th chick first hatched or was visable, at least a week. When I first saw it, I was filled with dread, but Mama is taking care of him. It doesn't hurt that he's always in front when feedings take place.

I have tried for a couple of days to get Savannah . Last time I watched she was acting weird and one chick was out of the box, but that box is not high and lots of places to safely go, but when the cam went out, I started to worry.

thanks ljames..

Some great news about Savanna...the kids are fine..they found them outside the box. Not really sure why they left earlier than normal. Instead of putting them back in the box, they left them on the roof of the elevator (whatever that means). Plenty of shelter to get out of sun/rain, etc. Because of that, cam has been turned off.

2 males and 1 female

Glad you got the first part of the feed at Seattle. By the time I started watching baby was down, and I thought maybe something was wrong with him.

They turned the cam off at Savanna? That's strange, I know that cam can pan out to see the surrounding area, not just the nest.

Bremmer update!!!!!!!!

OMG I know they had said that they thought Jill had a beak problem, but this is just awful.
Pat writes on FB:
During a visit to the nest box at Bremer Tower to adjust the focus, I was able to take some quick pics hey the one-way glass...the image of "Jill" shows the dramatic injury to her beak from mid March. I just wish I had my camera when I first saw the injury to compare growth.

Mayo clinic banding

Wednesday, June 11at 3:00pm - 3:30pm
We will be banding the young falcon eyases at the Mayo Clinic. This is a unique opportunity to see the project's work in person. The MPS team will also have an education peregrine on display from 1:30-3 pm. The event will be held in Geffen Auditorium.

Fun to see snips across the nation. All chicks are adorable - usually. :egg17:

Bremer banding to take place on June 9th

:egg19: Bremer - facebook post FYI
Midwest Peregrine Society There are risks when even attempting to trap or capture her, and have had several other birds with similar beak issues resolve themselves over time.
She had significant less beak tissue in March

than what she has here, and has been surviving well over the past 2.5 months. In other states, there have been numerous other instances of the birds overcoming even more serious disabilities and surviving for years.

Here is the RRP link on Bremer
http://www.raptorresource.org/forum/index.php/topic,1882.0.html

4 pre-fledglings at Nottingham Sonday morning.
1 hangs out around the corner outta cam view, 2 hang down on the open ledge
They appear they will fledge off the ledge any moment now.

GSB banding set for this Saturday, June 7

Its astonishing how wildlife carries on after serious injuries.
I've seen eagles survive with one foot/leg and deer survive missing part of a leg.
