Drat...I stopped watching too soon..so, thanks so much for the coverage..Hopefully they'll be able to go through the archived video to see what happened!!

I think its too soon...but, Aspro IS Day 38....we've seen Males fledge on that day..a bit early if Aspro is a she....but, Aspro should have the wing strength to at least flap/glide to safety somewhere..I just hope the people at Orange are paying as much attention to the cam as we are!!

Let's try to remain cautiously optimistic and hope that SOMEBODY is paying attention and can update us soon. :7turkey:

Scott posted that Aspro had less than a week left in the nest & since there is very little white left on him/her, I am not too worried about his/her safety. (Remember when Stan at Alcoa accidentally fledged, & he was still mostly white & ended up fine.) Hopefully we'll see Aspro back in the nest when its possible to gain the height necessary to get there. I bet Beau is sticking very close to where Aspro is & Cilla & Scott will probably go looking when its daylight there. Here is the link to see Scott's post:

Thanks Catwoman...I agree..(Like I posted earlier)...not ideal, but we've seen fledges (whether planned or accidental) at this age before..we saw it just this year at Salt Lake City..for whatever reason, they seem to go early there...with plenty of fluff still attached..

We just need to wait for the "ground" report and hope its a good one...I hope Scott can find the video footage of Aspro leaving...it certainly would help to know if it was on purpose or a big OOPS..

Not to be too overly concerned. In my opinion, Aspro was strong enough & her wings developed enough to easily glide / fly to safety. I am sure little Mac at Great Spirit Bluff was younger & not near as well developed & he survived just fine. AND he fell 600 feet !!
Our own (RDRN) little Summer and Moe both fell 312 feet & survived. They are very resilient little creatures.
Of course we will keep our talons crossed for Aspro & I am sure Scott will post a report in the Sturt Project Site a.s.a.p.

... well ... this morning I looked at myself in Italian Sour ... avviccinava you to the edge and then come back a little in the back .... for a few times ..... I was thinking "be careful .. .I think there is too much wind "but he / she went and started to do the balancing act right on the edge of the nest for a moment ..... I moved my son to wake up and he was gone ... ... it was very atratto even though the wind was strong ... he may have unbalanced

8.26 am Breakfast

Swift loudly screamed and flew in the window. :sum5:

After a while, Beau came with a large portion of the meal. I did not do a dump of the fact.

Swift ate a portion, the rest of the food she wanted to hide in the nest but she did not.

She flew with her left claw

She hesitated what to do. I hope it was a flight to Aspro

edit:

7.42 pm Swift return, Aspro no

I have not been able to watch but man. these guys have to give us heart attacks. Aspro, to me, was a male , and so should have been able to flap glide. lots of trees there , out that window.
depeding on direction of sien, can be an asset.

Aspro has done lots of wing flapping

hopefully they see something.

I would email Cilla but I am sure she is getting a lot. They are usually very much aware.

I am emailing anyway

tks Skygirl blue. I can see videos now. I do not know what happened but my computer di d some updates the other day and I have not been able to watch for a few days, so maybe the updates corrected the problem

thank you for posting the You tube links. By the way, I could not see my own videos either

Well, I just opened the cam and only saw an adult so came here with dread to try to find out what happened to Aspro. I sure hope that he is ok, surely they are looking for him/her by now. The wind is so bad there, but of course, it is at many nests we watch.

Swift sees something and takes off..

A few seconds later, Beau lands....I'm hoping that means that she saw him, there was a food exchange, and she's off delivering take out to Aspro. Beau is still in the door...

Swift returns....I think Beau saw her coming and made a bee line to the back of the box..it looked like (when I slowed it down) that she came in "talking"...

:cryinggirl: THE UPDATE FROM SCOTT IS HERE. ACCIDENTAL FLEDGE ... HIS TAIL WENT UP AND HE TIPPED OUT. HE HAS THE VIDEO AND STILLS. THE STILLS MADE ME CRY WHEN I ENLARGED THEM AS ASPRO TRIED DESPERATELY TO GET BACK IN. THEY HAVE SEARCHED AND CAN NOT FIND HIM. THEY THINK MOM IS NOT AWARE OF ASPRO'S LOCATION. IT RAINED THROUGH THE NIGHT. THEY ARE SENDING A CAMPUS ALERT THROUGH E-MAIL. I HOPE ASPRO MADE IT AND FOUND SHELTER!!!

... it's true ... Swift not tried .... as if he did not feel ..... but that's sucess immediately .... when Aspro fell she flew to the nest right away and ... remained much .... but with its view from Falco would have to see it ..... so I hope they find him .... or who feel .... :suchdrama: :sosad2

In my heart , after seeing this hapen so many times, I feel thye do know where Aspro is and thus will not call out till they need to feed Aspro.

they tend to do a lot of calling when they are looking for a young one.

I iwl send an e-mail to them and tell them to watch the adults.
Swift jsut flew out to the green tree straight ahead.

And now has just flown back up and is vocal .

I think it was beau who flew back up??? and then swift came in later with food
