Jimmy (Blue CU2) Has Died

Really horrible news this morning about a male osprey, Jimmy (Blue ring CU2). He was found electrocuted near Pentrefoelas, North Wales and reported to the British Trust for Ornithology (BTO).

Jimmy was born at a nest in Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland, in 2012 and was first spotted back in the UK two years later in August 2014 at the Dyfi. Here is a video of him 'intruding' at the Dyfi nest last year.......

I did not know Jimmy, but still heartbreaking to see. Thankful to the electric worker for taking the time to report. Was surprised of the number of osprey death d/t electrocution! That poor bird ...

You just gotta love all these osprey hatches! And actually, this will be my 1st time to observe an osprey chick! I am so excited!!!

A second osprey egg has hatched this morning at Loch of the Lowes. The exact timing is to be confirmed, but the chick was first spotted by volunteers at 8:15am. The adult female attempted to feed it almost immediately with a fish saved on the nest from yesterday. A full update will follow later today…
