I saw they put you down for your comments..I gave you a "like" though.

Yes, I noticed that Kris & thank you!

I read a little more on the Pittsburgh group. Kate said something to the effect that handicapped eyases are never allowed to stay home--the parents insist they must fledge. I'm sure if I brought up Polly in Montreal, the girl in Rome who stayed home & helped her parents raise her chicks (& I don't know if she had a disability), or the little juvie in the Netherlands who was still around this past year, I'd be attacked!

I am sure eventually I will have the need to say something on their FB page...

If anybody needs a cause, please consider emailing Carolina Raptor Center or posting on their FB page about the new hatch at Charlotte. Maybe that one can be saved..its at least 5 days younger than its sibs..

I went looking for the topic for Charlotte so I could get a background for the problem, but I couldn't find one. There wasn't anything new about Charlotte in Misc. Where can I find the topic info?

Charlotte is under USA MISC, MISC...doesn't have its own thread because we didn't know if there would be a cam. You can find it here:

Off topic,I know...but, here's the pic I posted earlier today

Hi everyone... I'm very, very knew here I know very little about these beauties*... The above was posted about 10:50am on FB (Pitt Peregrines).

(I'm not watching any more; *I can tell you anything you want to know about my Best Buddy, "Tiger Cat.") :1val:

You're with many cat lovers here, Bonbon!

I'm balancing off checking on Dorothy & her baby with getting some stuff done & more importantly, watching the birds use the birdbath right outside my back door. They're only a few feet from me & they're bringing their babies so its very heartwarming to watch.

Hi Everyone. I was overwhelmed with all the negative posts on Facebook, so I came here, to where I know there is a ton more experience :) I'm hoping he/she gets turned right side up, that everything will work out and he'll makes it to full fledge. My only concern, is how sharp his little talons are, and how he's kicking Dorothy, often in the face. I worry that she could end up wounded. Keeping my fingers crossed...

Great to see you here, lorgayle...hearing how negative the FB posts have been, I didn't even go there..

We are all keeping our fingers crossed here for a positive turn around..at least for today...it's been extremely difficult to watch..so, personally, I have taken a break from this cam...and just saying silent prayers..

:think FB is getting as bad as the SS on you stream with all the B.S. comments. If they can band the chick later in the week, why not get it now take care of it band it and return it? If it is deemed to be OK. (again just my opinion).

i am not viewing for next few days but this is what I want to say but cannot get on their page. they must know I am going to blast them lol

No one knows if this is a birth defect. Why , because no one has checked. I have watched this wee one non stop and seen its progress. It walked , by itself ,out of cam view yesterday Great job. it is in a depression of bowl and has been scrunched in there by mom.( Dorothy is just dong what she thinks is best, not senile). every time it tried to get up it was scrunched down. I watched it right itself yesterday, when adult was not around. It was not in the depression .

Shame on the authorities for doing nothing. they are going up to band anyway, go up now and check it out. How cruel. Don't hide behind the nature comments. If out in nature , something needs help , we help it.
Give the chick a chance.

And some of the comments made about Dorothy,. She is not senile. Things happen. she has earned the right to be here and to stay here. older than her have had healthy chicks. Richmond had a few tough years but we all cheered on their successes and stood behind them in sadness. WE did not wait for a younger falocn to come in and take the adults place. Shame on those making g the comments.

Blast away at me. I am tough. I am not just a casual watcher. I am well versed in the ways of falcons. I choose right now to not watch for awhile because I do not support those who will not help. We are not out in nature. They are where they can be helped.

God bless you Dorothy and her chick.

someone please help me post this on Facebook page

Hi Lorgayle--its good to see you! I was also wondering how soon the nails grow into a chick's talons because of the way he is kicking & sometimes unintentionally kicking Dorothy. It doesn't seem like Dorothy is concerned about that (she doesn't act like its causing her pain) so either he doesn't have talons yet or her feathers are protecting her.

I also agree with you, Bev!
