Bird Cams Around the World

U of A

WE arrived after 6pm. WE had to wait quite awhile and then at 7:20, a falcon flew in. it flew on south side of Clinical science and then over and landed on camera. no sound at all.

Not sure if one of ours. Windy and cool. Peter tried to scope and we are not sure if bands or not. It had back to us most of time. I did get a few bad pictures. I will post tomorrow. at about 7:55 it took off and flew north. Tried to see where but no go. just before dark , we checked tuck in spots and no one there

so : It could be one flying through.
If it belonged here, could have still gone off scouting around.
I do nto believe RAdisson as a few ravens flew in area and they were not chased.
Chase is usually a show off with flying.
could not get good look at tail .
So not a lot of questions answered.( jean not home )
have to be careful, I do not let Peter overuse his leg.

WE will head there after church and breakfast.

Then later in day head back to Weber and U of A

But Peter and i were there for over an hour this afternoon. Long enough to see a falcon on the ledge. I believe female , We did not see anything at first so it must have been inside , becasue all of sudden , there it was at the ledge,( first opening on south end of east side.)

Then after about 10 minutes another falcon flew up and the one that was on ledge went inside. A soft sound was heard ,as it is so noisy down there. the falocn that flew up, went to the middle window by pillar. did not see if food was dropped , as I was just going to take another shot of the other falcon.

Just before we left, the falcon on middle ledge, who we think is male, left to the south east and we saw the other one come to ledge from inside. So we had 2 in view.

So last week they was in and out a few times but not staying. , but in over an hour of watching today, one stayed there the whole time.. So it looked calm while we were there, and we think they must be close to eggs.

Of course without cams running, we will not know.

It is a hard sight to get to , with the construction, so Sunday is really the only day to view. Peter and I have to pace ourselves , with him still recovering.

So we will try and get there next Sunday.


when cam was up we had REd and an unbanded female. only saw her a day an a half of cam watching.
WE think we had E4 back, by markings and then we saw unbanded female no more. There may have been some conflict, but of course ,the cam was down , when it was most important to view. She will not be laying eggs , just yet, but I think close, whoever the female is. but close. she had fluffy bottom when we saw her.

I will pass this along to Gord, and he may be able to take a peek , in a bit.

So stay tuned for pictures.

will do write up tomorrow but we are 95percnt cure it is RAdisson home . cannot say 100 percent because we do not have band verification but everything points to her, and she tucked in , in her nightspot.

so will do photos and report tomorrow , too tired tonight

SORRy , i am so wiped but will get up early tomorrow with reports of last night and tonight. Peter downloaded pictures so I will do them up tomorrow.

but tonight we had two at dark and it was really weird. Not sure if we know what transpired. But we will figure out. It was Da-- Cold

when we got there on Sunday night there was no one home .all of a sudden one appeared on top aerial on Windsor Place. That is way up but it was windy and we tired to scope . We are pretty sure it is RAdisson. It flew off after awhile and went north east

Then as they do, she appeared flying in and landed on white aerial on college plaza. a favorite of hers. my pictures are nto great but we were quite sure it was her. She was very quiet.
She turned in at dark into her spot and so we were 95 percent sure it was her. We will try and get band but only she would know where to go for night time

We spent quite a bit of time just watching her. She was silent all time we were there. I think just getting her bearings again

we are a bit rusty and it was cold out

WEll we got there late as our focus was on Weber last night. but as we were driving to WEber I saw a falocn perched on top of College plaza , not on aerials , on north side roof


As I was driving in from traffic circle I saw some flying around maz and clinical science area.( I must remember to keep eyes on road LOL) When we going up top on parkade to look, I saw a falcon in the box, but when we got up there no one.

Then one came flying in from College plaza area, and appeared to be chasing a few pigeons. It landed on Maz roof on west side.

there was no way to get a few good shots. we do not know what went on that evening but we stayed and watched her till she flew to turn in. and then the strangest thing. As she was flying to her night spot, all of suddent there was another one flying quickly after her. then there was flying around college plaza and one was on west face of College plaza. There was some calling, but not chupping , not kakking, more like a kid. WE figured maybe Chase . ???

It was still on college plaza as we went to drive to check night spot. at night spot , there was one, 2 ledges down like night before on right and then one scrunched in , 5 ledges down , on left. Now that does not mean we have 2 of ours home. It means we have Radisson and one more.

So the one that flew after Radisson could have tried to land in her night spot and the chase was on, I do nto know. It was too dark to see that far. and too dark to take pictures

So we were not going to go there tonight but I guess we better.

We have to cut down a bit this year as it is expensive for us. and I do nto want to hinder Peter.

and the icing on the cake


WE got a call from police at 11Pm. someone took our license number and reported us to police for taking pictures of people in hospital LOL Sheez. first of all , you cannot even see in.

So Peter explained what we were doing. they asked how long we had been doing this and Peter said , since 2006. And gave him names of our contacts in The Maz, clinical science, campus police and Gord. Peter said to me, he knew one day someone would do this

We often explain to people why we are using binoculars. but I do not know why they did not ask us. We were one small person and a gimp with a cane LOL anyhow , if it is to happen , it will happen to us.

lol I can't believe someone called the cops! I was there for a couple of hours on Friday, I went and talked to security when I saw them...just so there was no issue. I had a couple of quick flights past me, so resting anywhere near by while I was there. Mike is home and we are going to be heading there this afternoon - will look in at Weber as well...do you guys park on the parking garage Bev? We've been parking over at the medical centre. ..just for the broadview..

There must be some houte toute in the hospital. I know you are going to sell the photos to the TZM(or what ever).

I hate that I moved farther away from the nest. But, tonight I can stop in and check them out. I brought both cars to work and don't have to drive anyone home, first.

U of A

we are going to try and head to U of A tonight also, to see if 2 are there and who it is. Peter is hurting today as he stepped wrong way and jarred his knee.

we were surprised to get the call from police also as we have been doing this for so long and they know us there. But we always talk to people pr they ask us. this year I am not pointing juveniles out to anyone until they have a lot of weeks of flying under their belt , so to speak. lots of kooks around there.

If it quacks like a duck, moves like a duck, swims like a duck. Then it is a duck.

Then that means Radisson is home.

were all out in full force to ID Radisson and Chase.
Windy on the parkade and them not cooperating with the camera lens, no tag got read.

But, like I said at the top of the page.
1)Radisson hates crows(or any black coulored bird), she was warning one and it changed course very quickly out of her sight lines.
2)Standing on her ariel and making the other falcon get off, another Radisson thing
3)No other bird would sleep in her cubbie hole.

There was also chupping, but Chase must not want a live audience .

If camera comes on, then we might just get her on camera.

Get recovered Peter, Trish and Mike and Bev..

U of A april7

WE were going to take a night off tonight but had a doctors appointment and stopped in at Weber and Uni

WE saw both at university. but took no pictures. very cold. Jean is home and met her for coffee.

She may get them feeding on ledges.

Unless something happens when we are not there, we will go with chase and RAdisson. cannot guarantee we will have cams. no one we know knows anything.

jean said when she got home last night, they were side by side . Very comfortable with each other.

will take another gander around sites tomorrow. needed a break form it.

April 10 U o f A

When we got there RAdisson was on the lower part of moon at suite Hotel. She later flew off after a raven. She does not like ravens . We met up with Jean. so I know this is her now.

not much action. she chased a raven over CP also. and then it looked like she was turning in. We did nto see Chase, but when we went looking , they were both turned in for the night.

Jean said they have not done much and have been very quiet.

We drove Jean home and then headed home ourselves.

hope it warms up soon .
