Meet the Nesting Pair @ Mayo -2016- (Info from the camsite)

The male and female falcons occupying the nest box this spring are new to our territory.
•The male fledged in 2014 from City Hall in Minneapolis, Minn. He is banded and named "Orton."
•The female is unnamed. She fledged in 2015 from the Mayo Building on the campus of the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis.

Falcons this young are able to mate successfully, especially in areas where there is ample food, but there is a 50-50 chance that the
female will not lay eggs this year. We're hoping this young couple enjoys "building their nest" in Rochester!

He was in the box wanting to bond, she was perched out of sight but you could see her shadow. He took off and then I saw his shadow going in for a canoodle and her shadow was in position, but his shadow didn't quite get there. Canoodle was aborted. But they are trying.

They both leave

1 returns..

but not to the eggs..

I'll wait it out to see if s/he gets on the eggs...at this point, I don't know who is who...

The falcon that was perched has JUST gotten on the eggs...looks like the female...maybe she's planning on more eggs?

Female left about 10 min ago...

Male has just returned and gotten on the eggs...Female is perched outside the box..(I think I got that right, or maybe that's backwards..LOL)

I risked freezing cams and they froze but here it is

male just came in with food and she ran out , grabbed it and was off. Male is incubating

all is well here but I will keep my eye out
