Just keeping the chicks company

I just turned the cam on and see Clara looking up. It might be banding day.

Yep, just saw the rope drop.

Clara is not happy and chicks are trying to hide in the corner.






The bigger one watches every move, does not run.
He's banding the other one in the nest.

Some really close calls with Clara zooming by.

He's had to take this one out of the box. Poor dear.

I can see both falcons I think attacking him. Now he's cleaning the lens. He needs to get the heck out of Dodge.

OMG they both flew by his head together just now. Happens so quickly, can't even press the button to get a shot.

Well one parent is sitting on the corner by the nest box while the other is still going crazy. I suspect Clara is the crazy one.

Well they will calm down eventually. No close-ups of the kids but they are piled up in the corner glad it's over.

Poor FC. Clara about knocked him off the wall, so he's moved down to the other corner of the wall.








Look how fierce and beautiful she is.



And the chicks have found the courage to stand up again.
They'll be running all over the place next.

If any of you remember the shooting of Haya (mate of Hiko - 2007 hatch in SJ from Clara & Jose) and her daughter Marina in Oakland 5 years ago, they have brought charges against the shooter:

MAN CHARGED WITH KILLING BIRDS: A man has been charged in federal court with killing six migratory birds, court records show.

Oliver M. Henderson was charged in U.S. District Court in Oakland with six misdemeanor counts of taking, killing and possessing a migratory bird.

He was named in a court document known as an information, which in federal court typically signifies that a defendant intends to plead guilty to at least one count.

The court papers accused Henderson of killing a Peregrine falcon in June 2011, a Cooper's hawk and a sharp-shinned hawk in July 2011, a bird of unknown species sometime in 2011 or 2012, another sharp-shinned hawk in January 2012 and a sixth unknown bird in December 2014.

The prosecution was the result of an investigation by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
