bon, you always check RRP right? I took snips of what I saw.
til I came here and saw your post I was HORRIFIED that 2 of our kids died in last nites severe storm!

So far nothing posted on cam page or fb - odd,
fb always has posts

Shep - I don't have a clue. I saw the cam office window swing open approx. 4:40pm. The 2 "prey?/quail?/dead birds were already there. I thought the wind blew the window open. I emailed Ches Conserv immediately - and asked them to have the window checked. (I didn't realize that someone may have put the "prey" there.) Never heard back from Ches Conserv.
Approx 4:44pm? a kid is looking at one of the 'prey' - the looks at the window - and flies up - hopefully not bumping the window, but I don't know. All of this was happening right before the storm was coming thru.
(The storm, by the way was not that bad - lots of rain and wind - but came thru fast and it was over.)

Matrix posted that the dead birds were quail. I don't know what's going on.

Chesapeak is so irresponsible to have a cam and not inform watchers whats happened.
If someone found a juvie down below - and they returned it to the roof - and tossed them a couple quail to eat - Ches needs to TELL us.
I emailed ches too
They have always replied

You just read my mind!
The cam angle this season hasn't let us see what's going on down at the other end either...
Frustrating.

Falcon Cam update: On June 6, an employee from Transamerica informed us that one of the eyasses flew into an office window and was shaken up by the injury. Craig Koppie, the raptor biologist from the US Fish & Wildlife Service who bands the falcons, temporarily removed it. The eyas was taken to a rehab facility. Yesterday at around 4pm, Koppie successfully released the eyas back into the nest. Watch the video of the release here. The birds you now see on the rooftop are food for the eyas.

Thank you to the Transamerica staff who alerted us!

When I turned on the video, I screamed right off.
I thought how the heck is that to put a chick back on the nest.
Then I saw another.
Well DO I FEEL DUMB :laugh2

Quail? I thought dad brought that??? Thanks!

:girlcrazy:

Sorry, I just got cable back after the storm on Thursday. Did we really lose two of them here?
Quail is the typical rehabber food for bird eaters. The other raptors get mice, unless of course they are fish eaters.

No - not that I know of... there were 2 quail in the nest - placed by Craig Kobbie who had returned one rescued fledgling - scroll back - I'm afraid I'll cause confusion!

Never mind, I see it was actually the dead quail. Trying to keep them on the ledge for a while I"m sure.

Surprise!

Hopped down and walked along the window ledge - out of sight. Maybe looking for more quail!

(Shep, wonder if this is the same one you saw this morning on RRP?)
