It's light enough to see now, no falcons on the nest. :girlsad3:

something has spooked these falcons and I do not believe other falcons

I saw it at our site last year. RAdisson is still not comfortable at the site. I also saw it at Genesee.
and 4 eggs will not keep them there if they do not feel safe. They can still nest elsewhere and have up to 3 or 4 more eggs. ( becasue she just had egg 4)

From K5 News

What happened to Seattle's peregrine falcons?

When he looked at the "Falcon Cam
(http://1201thirdtenants.com/falconcam.aspx)," that's
been aimed at an upper floor of a Seattle skyscraper for
decades, Michael Donahue had one question: Where did the
falcons go?

The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife (http://wdfw.wa.gov/) says this
year's eggs are no longer viable, because they were last incubated on Saturday.
There are plans to take the eggs to the Burke Museum, where they'll be studied, according to
WDFW.

Proof she got our emails!!!

I received an email back saying they are aware of the situation and they work closely with a Falcon Research Group. She also said it was good to know that people are watching from so far away. It was someone named Georgia that responded to my email.

So happy you heard back...I didn't. :sum7: ..according to their staff list, Georgia is the Property Administrator. Maybe I should have emailed her instead since I'm from Georgia..hahahahaha

I sent an email back to Georgia letting her know what was seen on the video you posted SGB. I also sent her a link to the Seattle thread here on BCAW. This was her reply.

Carolyn,
Thank you for sharing this with us here at 1201 Third. The videos are fascinating.

We are all sad about the outcome of this year’s eggs and our nesting pair. We may never know what drove them away.

The local wildlife organizations are retrieving the eggs and taking them to the Burke Museum.

We will be on the lookout for another nesting pair and put the camera back up if that happens.

Thank you again for your keen interest in the falcons. I can tell by the website that your group is quite dedicated to these wonderful birds.

What happened to Seattle's peregrine falcons?
When he looked at the "Falcon Cam," that's been aimed at an upper floor of a Seattle skyscraper for decades, Michael Donahue had one question: Where did the falcons go?
Donahue, who watches the birds from his desk at work, says the mother and father haven't returned to the nest for several days. They left four eggs behind.
"They just don't abandon eggs," said Ed Deal with the Falcon Research Group. "They're fiercely protective."
And they're loyal to their territory.

Since 1994, people have watched a succession of peregrine falcon pairs raise chicks at the former Washington Mutual building at 1201 Third Avenue.

From their high perch, peregrine falcons catch other birds in mid-flight, to feed themselves and their young.

The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife says this year's eggs are no longer viable, because they were last incubated on Saturday.

There are plans to take the eggs to the Burke Museum, where they'll be studied, according to WDFW.

It's unclear exactly what happened, but Deal suspects their mother died.

He said the father was spotted Monday and showed no interest in the eggs. Deal said it's early enough in the breeding season that the falcon may be searching for a new mate.
"This is nature," Deal said.
But it's a little disappointing to the Falcon Cam fans, who've been watching the Seattle birds long before the world waited for a giraffe to give birth in New York or an eagle chick to hatch in southwest Florida.

"Every spring, for the last few years I send an email to my brothers and sisters in various parts of the country and say, the falcons are back," Donahue said with a smile in his voice.

"It's that connection with nature that you lose in the city," said Deal, "and it's a way to reconnect with nature, even though you're in your cubicle you get to spend a little time in wild kingdom."

Life and death is part of that, and Deal is optimistic life will return to the Seattle peregrine falcon nest, soon.

:girlyes: On the Super MISC list, I found a cam for Joliet, IL. That cam is on, but no falcons and no eggs. Is this another nest that the falcons abandoned?

Hi Tsusan...I went to check and strangely that link is wrong and takes you to the Romeoville, IL nest, which is actually "next door" to Joliet (probably why its there). ...Last year, after the falcons laid their first egg at Romeoville, a raccoon raided the nest and took the egg. The falcons never returned..The Joliet cam was a ustream cam, but it is no longer active nor did it have falcons in it last year. (though they did fledge 3...I just don't know which nest in Joliet)

I checked their facebook page and it seems they moved a box into the Quarry...now known as the Joliet Quarry nest. Ironically they posted this vid today..LOL..I think its the falcons at the Quarry nest. The pair are chasing a turkey vulture. I don't think I've ever seen a TV fly that fast!!

There is (was) a nest in Downtown Joliet...to be honest, I can't remember which nest the Ustream cam was pointed at..sigh..

Now that I have you thoroughly confused.. :buzzybee:

Finally found an update for Davenport. :girlsad3:
, I am a little sad to report that the two peregrine falcons that nest atop the MidAmerican Energy building in downtown Davenport produced no eggs this year.

Pat Schlarbaum, a biologist for the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, said he is not sure why. Perhaps Scorpio, the female, has lived beyond the age of producing eggs.
