I spent some time downtown early this afternoon. I walked around Riffe, Rhodes, and Trinity Church areas. I saw an adult flying over statehouse lawn on two separate occasions. Oddly, no begging calls from the fledglings or remaining "ledgling".I thought I heard someone calling near the 8 building but didn't see any wings flapping and no adults were visible.

I won't make it back down this evening, but will be in the area tomorrow noonish. I am also planning to try to get down there tomorrow evening. It seems that our falcon family is most active morning and evening. I can't blame them, it has been extraordinarily hot in Columbus the past few days...and no relief in sight! :fangirl:

I love all of the reports we get about the babies...... Thank you Perkdiggity and thank you to all!

It's hot in Buffalo today and I see the juvies at UB are laying low and need a fan.

Take care good care in the heat.

Sally

:dancegirl: Welcome daleosborn! There is a falcon @ the far ledge, but difficult to see with the opaque spots on the cam lens till it sticks its head out over the ledge. It even looks as if it is on the other ledge with only the head distinguishable, but it is not.

Thanks so much for checking things out!! I wonder where these guys are hiding..and I wonder what happened to the juvie on the crane? I thought for sure we'd hear it landed on the sidewalk somewhere..LOL..no news is good news.

#4 is still on the lower ledge...from what I can see, I'd say its playing with its food!!

Its just so hard to believe its fledging time already!!! Didn't they just hatch?

:eggthumb: Oh...what beautiful pics. Our remaining juvie appears to be female with a very distinctive brow ridge over the eye in these latest pics. I'm glad she is waiting out the heat wave for better flying conditions. It's going to be 89 degrees again today in Columbus.

I wonder if the juvie that was escorted to the adjacent ledge Saturday night is still hanging out there? It's hard to tell if the falcon flying up to the adjacent ledge is a parent doing a check-in. Maybe Aries bringing the food next door? There may be white under the throat.

I've been recording non stop since the first fledge...I've never caught anybody leaving the next ledge..and that includes starting the recorder at 5:30 am and ending it at dark...of course, if they walk to the other end, the cam wouldn't see that...Also, no food drops to the next ledge on any of my recordings...I would really like to think a juvie made it to that ledge, but no way to know...

Good morning everyone - I spent from 7:00 am til 9:30 am walking, watching, listening for the chicks. It took awhile to even hear anyone - I first started hering a screaming ner High Street and the Huntington - I almost thought it seemed low. I did not hear any more so I walked around the statehouse - did not see or hear anything. Then I heard more screaming - looked up and saw a fledgling on the ledge next to the nest box - he/she seemed to be just lying there but it was nearly impossible for me to tell. Then, I walked over toward High Street again and heard more screaming - distant - I walked down to an alley, walked to Broad Street, looked up - there was a falcon on the roof of the Huntington - now, I am not sure if it was an adult or fledgling. It sat there a long time. I went up to the observation floor in the Rhodes, I was actually escorted to the floor - we even took the service ele3vator - interesting - I saw the falcon on the Huntington - still pretty far away. I am going to try to post a picture or two from yesterday morning - I totally fortgot to do it last night - lol - senior evening!! I have pictures from today, however, they won't be too good sincce I was so far away.

A short while after I returned to work, there was thunder and rain - good timing - I hope Perk does not get wet while she is downtown. Thank you so much Perk - I am sorry that we keep missing one another.

:eggthumb: Hi Rose...thanks for your observations. Cannot thank you enough! Question....are you saying that there's a juvie on the ledge adjacent to the nest ledge or rather on the nest ledge itself near the nest box?

You are welcome, Nadia - I am glad that I can walk around and look for the fledglings - there are so many places to look- listening sure helps to find them.

I spotted a fledgling on the ledge next to the nest box ledge unvortinately, the pictures that I took of the ledges are blurry - the clouds were rolling in and it was kind of gettinng a little darker out - maybe that was the problem - not sure. Hopefully Perk will find one when she is dowtown

:sum9: :hapdance: That is wonderful news Rose! Oh my goodness. I cannot thank you enough!! Some of us were suspicious that there was a juvie on the adjacent ledge, possibly returned with a parental escort Saturday night. I think Aries may have delivered some prey remains there this morning. Perhaps an adventurous 1st flight and hot weather is keeping that youngster sitting tight until it feels ready to go again. Thank you again for all your help in trying to make sure these youngsters are safe. You and Perk are now our eyes and ears.
