With daybreak, the plot of the MIA falcon chick saga thickened. A worker in one of the nearby office buildings saw a juvenile falcon on the ground as she was walking to her office. As luck would have it, she also spotted Dox and hatch from a few years back in a flower pot leading to his rescue. So she knew right away what she was looking at! After digging out Laura's business card, she made the call.

I was having breakfast with my son south of downtown so I was able to get there quickly. I called Miranda and we looked together. She has "falcon eyes" and saw him again. He took several low flights and ended up near a flower bed where I finally was able to throw a blanket over him. As Laura notes in her blog, JC is spending a few days at the rehabber since we are expected to have severe weather later today and tomorrow.

The irony of this shirt is not lost on any of us. :teehee:

This was purchased from the Wildlife Center of Virginia to celebrate Buttercup, their lovely educational black vulture.
Incidentally, Buttercup just celebrated her 13th birthday in January! :loveheart2:

Oh my goodness gracious, sakes alive!!! Great report, great pics, and great job arles and gigi!! I am so happy JC is safe!! (I had to chuckle that it was JC. I bet he got a kick outta that)

We are expecting strong storms today and apparently one has been hopping from perch to ledge.... YIKES! I sure hope we are not summoned downtown again.

JC's release back onto the 31st floor.
This first pic was taken when we picked him up from rehab. :loveheart:

I love the fluff on his head.

Sue H took several pics from the ground. I initially opened the crate door hoping he would simply hop out. Nope! He wasn't budging so I needed to go out into the gutter to convince him to go while Willow and Sesenta were wildly flying nearby. As he moved further back into the crate I finally realized I would need to remove him and place him in the gutter.
Here I am tipping the crate and trying to cover him with the blanket. You can get a feel for how deep that trench is.

Success! He is in the gutter waiting for me to get the heck out of there.
See the pellet (circled in red ) that fell out of the crate! I actually borrowed an iPhone and snapped this pic.

Afterward, JC is cruising the ledge.

We left him sitting behind the 4th stanchion.

Here we go again! I just picked up A/42 aka Sycamore from animal control. He was found on the ground last night. He is on his way to the rehab resort for fluids and nutrition. I am going out of town for the afternoon. Hopefully I can make arrangements with Market Tower to return him early this evening. More later!
