Well, I just hope Jubilee doesn't have to have a new mate again this year. I'll try and get down there next weekend. Then I'll head over to Jersey City. You may get two for one.

I WAS well rewarded at 55 Water St. The weather was gorgeous, I met a new helicopter friend who is very interested in the falcons and proceeded to google falcons, chicks, peregrines while we were on the street. Say hi to Keith there if you make it down.

Oh, did I forget to mention, I saw the male fly into the scrape, fly out of the scrape, make a lap just above me to the west, fly across 2 New York Plaza and over the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial back to 55 Water St.

And one more thing, have I got your attention? I went into the building to renew my acquaintances. They were ready for me. The new door guard had been alerted that I would be coming. "Are you looking for the peregrines?" They sent out the word that a chunky, gray haired, old lady would be stopping in. The main guard at the desk remembered me from years past and John was at his post at the other end of the desk. We all had a good laugh and exchanged hellos. I got the update on the web cam. They are working on it. They have a new monitor in the building. We should be able to see it soon.

Wait, there is one more thing. THERE ARE THREE EGGS IN THE NEST!! Jubilee must be sitting on them and Rocky?? came in to check on here while I was down on the street.

Talk about a slow build up! You must be a hoot a minute telling a story! I LOVED IT!. Thanks for making it interesting and even more exciting than it even is, if that's possible! Now I know I must read your entire post and not skim!

Great news. This is the first cam I ever watched three years ago and it remains close to my heart. Such an exciting time.

It sounds like you had a productive day all the way around Bonnie! Nice photos, as always. Who owns this cam anyway? It doesn't seem like the state wildlife biologists get to involved, but I don't know that much. I do remember there were many battles over the falcons here...????

Actually, the Alabama Teachers' Retirement System / insurance company owns 55 Water St and the cam. That's why the students in Alabama named the birds. Barbara Loucks and Chris Nadereski, NY DEC, keep watch and band the chicks in the spring. Since Chris doesn't work for DEC anymore, I don't know if he continues to check on the scrape. He used to visit all the scrapes here in Lower NY regularly.

In any case, all the regulars continue to quietly keep an eye on the scrape. Plus, the building is totally dedicated to the falcons and they step in if there are problems.

Well, I really have never heard that before. No wonder you own the place!! Is anyone from DEC publishing reports from their banding? It would be interesting to know how many falcons and where they are from.

This cam should be up shortly--the player comes up, but I'm not getting any video. If anyone else would like to try it, here's the link:

Way to go Jubilee and Rocky? I went down this morning and stayed for about a half an hour. No action, so I went on to JC and then up to Riverside Church. Riverside Church was the only place I saw a couple of peregrines. Have a picture from there.

I guess everyone is hunkered in keeping those eggs warm and dry.
