Interesting calendar Ingrid. I guess there are many boxes installed in the Netherlands with no nesting pairs? Also, is the UK always this far behind all the others?

Watching the European sites and certainly hope that Eemsmond can have a successful nest this year. Tragic that the female has had to sit for months on eggs that will never hatch. Maybe this is the year for this nest site.

Still one egg, accompanied by a small piece of prey.
I'm wondering; could there be something going on with intruding Falcons? Territorial disputes perhaps, that are causing the delay of a second egg.
It's strange, that's for sure. They are not incubating properly either, indicating that the clutch is not complete yet.

One of my forum members emailed Jan van Dijk, from WerkgroepSlechtvalkNederland, who is hosting these webcams.
His reply:
This afternoon (our time) he received a phone call from an employee of the plant in Nijmegen. They had found a dead falcon on the ground beneath the nest box.
German bands but they didn't know whether it was a male or female.
Jan will check the band codes, try to find out the cause of death. There have been reports of a third falcon and some fights, so . . . . .
If this is the resident male, I hope it died in battle and the winner will pair up with the resident female. That way it may even lead to a new nesting attempt.
Complete message here:
