Great pictures, Kim. It looks like the male delivered a woodcock (fat, rusty plumage, long toes) to the female in the early sequence. I found a few feathers and beak from one on Thursday. Some of us were talking on the roof about how the male catches them. I said that there is habitat nearby in trees along the Brandywine, but on reflection I think he's probably catching migrants. It's a long way across the Delaware River with a fast falcon with good eyesight in the neighborhood.

Thanks for that info, Greg. Two of us went over to the Sheraton for a potty break, and found what looked like a Robin's wing down below the nest ledge. And I also just saw her up there on the eggs. I was talking to her a lot from the garage roof telling her what she needs to do! :-)

Greg, are you familiar with this video from Derby UK about the Peregrine Falcons hunting at night?
In this video the falcon comes to the ledge with a Woodcock:
These Woodcock migrate in the dark, but when they pass over illuminated area's such as cities, the falcons will hunt them.
I know that the Dutch falcons feed on these birds too, remains have been found near the nest sites.

It wasn't eaten immediately though, it was in the "freezer" for over a week, if I remember correctly.
And there are two more video's, with a snipe, you can read the whole story on the Derby blog:

It must have been a great day for all the "out-of-town" visitors today! Beautiful pictures, wonderful stories. Thanks for sharing them.

Dutch Eagle Fan -- Eye-opening videos. Thanks. Snipe are on the menu here too, and other waders, but outweighed by city pigeons and a smaller, turtle dove sized native relative, the mourning dove. Third and fourth place here are yellow-billed and black-billed cuckoos, smaller relatives of the Eurasian and even more secretive. I read very recently about city peregrines hunting migrant cuckoos nocturnally, but that can't be the whole story since cuckoos are taken late April--mid October. Northern Flickers (a woodpecker like the Green) are in fifth place here. If you haven't seen it here is a link to a website Kim is running, which includes a gallery of her photos, a blog about this season, and, in FAQ's, "What do they eat" with a link to a list I kept of prey 2003-2007:

http://wilmfalcons.com/falconfacts.htm

An eastern pipistrelle bat turned up intact on the sidewalk under the nest a couple of weeks ago, as did a little brown myotis in 2003. So your point about nocturnal hunting is clearly true here. The best news about this is that if a great horned owl (our eagle owl, and deadly falcon nest predator) ever tries to fly three blocks over and 18 stories up from the trees along the Brandywine River, the falcons will be able to see and dissuade him, well in advance.

Without repeating what everyone said here, I just want to add my thanks for the marvelous photos, videos and stories from today. I'm glad you all had a chance to meet up with each other and were able to share some of what you saw (and heard!) with us.

Someone is sitting on the eggs which makes me wonder if she laid a third egg during the night. Hopefully whoever is sitting on them will get up soon so we can find out!!!

Good Morning All! Thanks Greg and Dutch Eagle Fan for wonderful info.Jane your pictures were great too. It rained very hard here over night. Looking foreward to another egg. Question, should have asked yesterday. Is there a "door" in the back to get to the young at banding time?

I wasnt going to ask that but it did cross my mind. Since the tendon surgery on both feet and a broken thigh thrown in between, i dont think i could run fast enough. Well, i will have to go by taxi then. Thanks for that tip too.

If i were going to revert to film , it would be fun to use the 800mm apo telyt R f5.6 lens. However, I dont think i want to carry it nor have it in any area that may be of "questionable behavior".
