Several times on on the San Jose Yahoo group, Glenn Stewart has reminded viewers that these eggs are very sturdy. He specifically points out that peregrines lay in the tundra!

Hopefully, they will get on to egg laying and maybe bring these eggs in? I don't know how long they can be left completely unattended, but there's always a chance.

Crossing fingers.

That's very interesting about the tundra. I always assumed eggs left in freezing temps overnight would be ruined. I know I've placed house sparrow eggs in the freezer and replaced them the next day and they continue to incubate them without success. It's a method of trying to discourage them from taking over bluebird boxes. Not very effective , though. I hope you're right for Tasha's sake.
Dori seemed to be acting very eggy a few minutes ago, although biology says it's too early.

Mom...

I think she may "adopt" Tasha's eggs:

She turns and walks away and he gets up and runs after her. Sorry my picture was just a blur.

It sure is! Wonder what will happen..

Jeez...if she lays 4 eggs and adopts those two, wonder if they will be able to support 6?

What I think is interesting is all the changes in nests this year.. or what I preceive to be changes. We are seeing intruders in SF & SJ also. I'm hoping that this does not become a regular occurance with the increase in peregrine populations. It's heartbreaking.....

I'm hoping she does adopt Tasha's eggs, Michele. It is encouraging that she appears to want to use the same scrape. Only question is--are those eggs still viable...& I think part of the answer to cutting down on these fights over nests is to have more tiercels. Let's have a bunch of male hatches this year!

One was incubating, then both in the box for a few minutes. Does Dori have a purple band?

For those having problems with WE tv "eating up" their computers:
Try via Zaplive

Gulf Tower

or
Cathedral of Learning with chat about both

Smaller window but less CPU using.
I make the browser like a small player and work in a different browser.

And about more males to hatch this year
2009 there were 11 females and 24 males in The Netherlands in the nests I could get info about.
Somehow this was in the VS and Canada also the case, I thought, but no list to look for it with me.
So the males are coming 8-)

Wish Dori will lay eggs and some rest up there

Unfortunately, a high percentage of the males we had hatch around here last year were killed in accidents, & we didn't have many to begin with. :-( On top of that, at least a couple of males from well-established nests were killed in accidents!
:-(

Thanks, Tine, for the alternative links. Unfortunately, they don't work for me, either...
:sigh
