I just read C & C's FB page. It looks like Stacker has a break...sad...probably means he won't be back for the season...

In an odd twist of fate, Stacker's brother Stacks is now courting Lady Millar. Stacks was Lady Millar's old mate from the past. They appear to be together once again. I often wondered how he fared after Lady Millar took over the TT. There are a number of males in the area jockeying for position. So, we'll see how this all shakes out. Latest update by CC is that Stacker is doing well in his recovery so far.

On April 17 Chris Saladin reported the first egg for Lady Millar. Early morning on April 19 there was a second egg. Yesterday she went there again and took a picture of FIVE eggs :sum9:

:penguin: Wow...that's great news! Thanks! She was a fiver last year....a big brood and they all did well, right down to the little pint-sized baby. The father to these eggs however is not Stacks. A new unbanded male pushed him out before egg laying began. This male has lots of buffy white above his cere. I will bring some of CC's pics over to this site when I get a chance. :15heartbeat:

:flirty: Here are Lady Millar's 5 eggs revealed during an exchange as she came in to incubate. This new guy has been named Thome by Chris Saladin and he is proving to be a good mate for her. He is sharing incubation duties and is a good protector, pulling off a little stand-off between Chris at the window and the nest. These pics were taken on 4/26. Courtesy of CC's Ohio Peregrine Page on facebook.

Sad Ending for Georgina's Saga: We are sorry to have to report that Georgina, the lone female juvie at this year's Terminal Tower nest was found lifeless at the intersection of 40th Street and St. Clair.

Chris Saladin reported that she got a picture of 2 eggs hatching simultaneously at the Terminal Tower (5/7). Only 3 eggs to go. :hatchegg: :hatchegg:

This was posted by Chris Saladin on Facebook from C&C Ohio Peregrine page:

As described in the 2 proceeding videos, Thursday was very informative and encouraging at the Terminal Tower site! We were able to see the new male on the nest ledge showing no signs of aggression toward the three remaining male juvies, and Elsa brought cached prey to the juvies and fed while he watched her. From the outside, prior to walking in we also saw the pair several blocks away driving out a turkey vulture together and zooming back toward the TT looking to hunt. And while on the nest ledge with the juvies, the new male was rather indifferent and more interested in seeking out Elsa and courting her. So, while we didn’t see the new male bring her prey yet (and they may not have proceeded to that phase of courtship just yet), in considering possible scenarios as to how one eyas ended up dead in the tray we still don’t know the answer, but it seems unlikely that the new male had been hostile toward her or the other juvies.

It’s fascinating observing this stage of transition, as it’s clear that the current males in Elsa’s life have very different interests and needs: her juvies scream and food beg, looking to her for prey whereas the new male seeks to interact with her and form their bond. Although the courtship process usually happens in progressive stages as a pair becomes more familiar with one another, in cases such as this bond building can move along more rapidly (as we saw a couple years ago at Hilliard when Tellus and GG paired as GG and Titan’s eggs were preparing to hatch). For example, usually the male provides prey to the female prior to copulation, so on Thursday this new male was looking to mate with Elsa while she was perched on the façade of the Renaissance Motel, but she showed no interest or intent to allow him while she was focused on her juvies walking the ledges. It is essential that she perceives him to be a good provider as the bond is forming, yet in these circumstances (with him likely killing off her mate) she needed to first make sure that he wouldn’t be a threat to her young and that he wouldn’t inhibit her feeding and raising the juvies.

The rest will be explained in pics (and we may have to fill in descriptions later, as we’re off to check other sites this morning)…

Chris Saladin posted that of the 4 eggs that were laid in Terminal Tower (Cleveland), 1 each 5/1- 5/3 :hatchegg: :hatchegg: :hatchegg: and one the Mom continues to incubate. You can go to the C&C site on Facebook to read more about it and see pictures: https://www.facebook.com/ChadandChrisOhioPeregrinePage/
