No pip as yet. Mods are saying Harriet has been looking and listening. They are saying Harriet is in her early to mid twenties and M15 is 10 going on 11. They are aware Hatch Countdown Clock for egg 2 is incorrect. They are working on the pond cam. Hoping they are successful and we have it back for this season.

Harriet on egg duty. Nothing seen at 5:26 pm view of eggs. They reported during chat that the above was a calcium deposit. Mod reports:

Mods here were consulted on an egg in question per Hancock Wildlife from a pic taken later in the day. Pic and findings below.

After contacting KittyHawk3 about this spot in question, this was the SWFEC mods findings:
"I conferred with Essec09 and other team members and the general consensus is that what we see is part of the straw."

For sure! I think they said today is day 35 and I know Harriet has been looking and listening. We could see a pip any second now!!

6:40p Night falls on the nest tree. H incubates, M15 is on the outer attic standing watch. Good views of the Eggs today, no pip has been seen. No food was delivered today. Sleep safely Eagle Family.

I think an owl just went for M15. It happened as soon as I pulled up on cam 2. Going back in to see what happened exactly.

At 22:16, M15 is on the outer attic, but obscured. He was hit by an owl, but was able to hold his position and he alerted and was vocal. Harriet was preening over the eggs and she jerked and alerted. At 22:18, M15 was struck again by the owl and knocked outward from the branch, but was able to fly out with the owl and they circled back and flew offscreen. Harriet jerked again and immediately mantled over the eggs and cried out and you could see her tracking them when they circled back and away and she was vocal. M15 returned to the outer attic at 22:20. As far as I know, everyone is okay.

SWFL Eagles ~ TWO Great Horned Owl Strikes On M15! Harriet In Full Defense Mode! 1.20.21

Tonight the GHO (great horned owl) did a double strike on M.
The first strike did not knock M off the branch but put him on extreme alert. Harriet vocalizes on the nest suddenly on alert as well.
A couple minutes later, the owl returns and strikes M hard and this time does knock him off the attic.
M recovers & gives chase and Harriet goes on immediate defense mode spreading her wings to protect the eggs & alerting loudly.
M flies back to the attic quickly and is vocal as the owl is still in the area.
Harriet will finally settle back down on her eggs as M is located in the outer attic as a sentinel guarding his family.

11:34a H up aerates, rolls eggs repositions, incubates. M stays close on the pasture snag. 12:17p H up aerates around the bowl, repositions, incubating. No pip seen.

Harriet should be on the nest soon as she was on the Veranda waiting to come in when I left at 7:07.

No pip seen at shift change at 7:11 pm. Harriet is on night duty now.

Another owl attack on M15 that knocked him down to the attic from the outer attic. Harriet jerked. Both alerted. All are well.
