In January and February it was mostly male Red-winged Blackbirds and in March, Mourning Doves. This is a little more painful but I expect that the focus will change soon.

:laugh OMG! I couldn't help but laugh at your post, even though it's disheartening to learn that it was Northern Flicker feathers.

Count on Red Girl for that in June, in spades. Once the migrant flickers are through Caesar will notice Mourning Doves again, and scrumptious cuckoos arriving from the south. And he will start hammering pigeons, too.

I'm counting on it! Painful to think about the Flickers. We have them at our peanut feeder every day.

FUNNY, A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO WAS THE FIRST TIME I EVER SAW A FLICKER. I THOUGHT IT WAS AN INJURED WOODPECKER OF SOME TYPE SINCE IT WAS ON THE GROUND, LOL. THEN THE NEXT DAY, IT BROUGHT THE FEMALE, BUT BY THEN, I KNEW WHAT IT WAS. NOW THAT IS ALL THESE TWO SEEM TO DINE ON! IT DOES MAKE FOR A COLORFUL NESTBOX WHEN THE FEATHERS ARE IN THERE :-)

GREG, STILL LOVING YOUR REPORTS!!

I don't know where he's finding them, but it looks like he got one again today. Maybe he's spotting migrants in the air.

I believe Red told Caesar that her parents take turns on the eggs very quickly! Was looking at the posted times on Reenie's pictures. Of course, when we were in Wilmington, Red could have been doing a much better job that day. Looks like the two of them have worked out a good arrangement. And there's a Flicker in my yard that somehow got by Wilmington. :-)

NOT TOTALLY SURE, BUT LOOKS LIKE RED GIRL ON THE EGGS THIS MORNING, IT'S COLD, SO SHE'S ALL PUFFED UP, BUT I THINK IT'S HER.

During this down time, I was going thru my Favorites List & found a web site I had saved from last year. "Our own" Kim's FABULOUS pictures are there, and good articles. Maybe you"all" have it too! Can't say enough about Kim's photography. http://www.wqed.org/birdblog/about/cont ... ographers/

Thanks for that link, Faith. One of the photographers listed on there, Joe Kozak from the PA Game Commission, assists with falcon banding in Harrisburg. He did a program for our local Audubon last year, and shared some great Peregrine photos as well as a large variety of other wildlife.
