Does anyone know how long that 5th egg at Scotford can be to the side before its not viable?

Welcome Muddy-Waters!
The incubation period for peregrine falcons is usually 33-35 days Muddy-Waters.
Today is day '35' for the 5th egg...

Muddy Waters. The ambient temperature at the time in that area was 20C. The egg was uncovered for almost exactly two hours before K47 gathered it back in. It was not in the sun. I am no expert but I believe that if it does not hatch, it will be for reasons other than this afternoon’s misadventure.

And welcome,

Emy

Thanks Emyrauld and Beth for an answering that question. :17:
Yes, the egg being uncovered is ok as it was warm out but not too warm. We have seen at some sites , where an egg has been left out even longer. Sometimes they get accidentallykicked out of the circle .
It is hard with 5 eggs to pinpoint hatch but we give as good an estimate as possible egg 4 was laid may 4 and hatched on June 10( 37 days) egg 5 laid on May 7 ( so it is 35 days) as Beth said). So it still has time if you look to hatch of egg 4
So if egg does not hatch it won’t be because it was uncovered( as Emyrauld stated)
I personally would rather it did not hatch as chick 4 is much smaller and having trouble getting in to get fed
Welcome Muddy waters

 Maryanne. If the other egg does not hatch, I think it may have a chance

Good day, and thank you all for the warm welcomes. I know last year at Scotford there were 10 days between the first hatching and the last, and the last one was so tiny, but thankfully feisty. I thought the timing between hatching was so stretched out last year due to it being so cold while the eggs were being laid and was expecting they would be hatching closer together this year. Oh well, they just like to keep me on my toes! haha.

Happy bird watching!

I have pictures, just no time to post.

Youngster has found, keep the mouth open always, and food will find its way

I am concerned here. These chicks were left alone for over 6 hours during night. This has been happening for days now. They were not old enough when she started leaving them for hours during night. Do not know if misstep by male as usually females stay night, or if it is because the great male before this came in to relieve during night.
This male is good, he feeds, brings prey regulatly. He is grandson of Radisson and Chase

5 would not have made it. ( 2 would have perished) the youngest here is feisty )
