Been a strange week weather wise that's for sure. Yesterday the earthquake yes twas felt here an it's a different experience and southwest of us here they had a tornado touch down and trailer parks well they don't do to well in them it was leveled. Hot & humid now with t-storms still threatening here now.
Lately you seen our wee boy Chedoke getting larger spreading his wings and watching the siblings flying with themselves and mom and dad at times but one mainly Surge I see keeping an eye always at home base as it tis their territory and they do defend it as still there's this one Kestrel which at times has been seen chasing Joseph. But we've still got other birds around too as a little larger then the Kestrel there's the Merlin nearby as this morning I had a Merlin chasing a Coopers hawk in my backyard.

I've just caught vision of something surprising :hmmmm

Just gotta verify what I've seen

Image

I saw this bird show up on his own with the meal. Not sure where he brought the meal from or if he's a quick learner. This is Chedoke closest to the camera.

Tis little Joseph with the meal and tired after landing with it as he flopped on top of the meal. So still very impressive since this is his fifth day flying. Tis our two youngest chicks here.
Cheers

Maybe a parent did a food transfer to that juvie in the air . . . ? Or he stole it from a parent or the parents' stash . . . ? I've seen all of the above scenarios at our site.

Been watching for days and thought I missed the fledge, but Chedoke is still hiding in the far corner trying to stay cool.

Saw the cutest sequence this morning as an older brother poked and prodded and jostled Chedoke to stand up and then showed him how easy it was to take a flying leeeeeap, but Chedoke didn't buy it. You could just imagine the conversation! They make you laugh sometimes!

He did some flapping tonight. Then one sibling joined him at 9:16 pm and looks like he's spending the night. A second sibling is spending the night on the next ledge. So at least he has company. Has anyone seen Chedoke get fed today? He's going to be pretty hungry in the morning!

Parent on ledge at 7:42 am ... apparent food drop which Chedoke took to the far corner to eat where I think he's stashing food for the winter!

The last I saw him was at 9:32 am when he jumped into the box and tucked himself under the brick overhang ... and with the next refresh he was gone from sight. He faked me out yesterday this way ... he's really good at hiding in the corner. So I don't know.
