A rare moment of peace and quiet for the adult I imagine. I don't think this one has even fledged yet, but can't be sure. The parent did go into the box later, picking at leftovers and of course, the juvie joined in.

not enough hours in day to check everything. Glad there are watchers here for the kids. I am hoping for all good here after such a start.

What upset me about this report is that people were taking pictures in stead of action.
so they not have numbers up to call.

Poor Jennie--imagine how she must have felt when she heard the inaccurate news from the Game Commission! Glad the juvie is OK!

It is unclear whether the bird actually hit something. It was perched on a railing when it was first noticed. Rest assured that many that work in or near the Gulf Building are involved in fledge watch, and they know to call the PGC. Alas - I worked a couple hours later than usual and missed the excitement entirely....

Sorry, I was not aiming at the fledge watchers. I know from our sites, that people that work in the area have a close attachment. I was just astounded at people taking picutres instead of alerting someone.

It had been a hard year so far and I have mine to go yet. so I think I am slowly becoming saturated dn discouraged.
(I am usually upbeat. I think I need to take a break)

Any news on these guys by the way. I have faithfully followed them when I can.

kf - the pics you posted are from the other cam - the Pitt Cathedral of Learning. But it's really really close to the Gulf Bldg - within a few miles!

Some sad news and some good news, from Kate St John's blog: Blue Girl is gone, but the 2 birds in rehab (White Girl from Gulf Towers and Yellow Girl from Pitt's Cathedral of Learning) will soon be released.

Thanks for posting the link to the update, Antilogical. So sad about Blue Girl, but good news about the other 2.

"White" from Gulf and "Yellow" from COL are releasable and have possibly already been released! Both can fly and hunt on their own. Both will be released within sight of their nest buildings. Many thanks to the rehab facility for teaching them to be self-suficient.

Fly with Fortune, little ones! :smilesun:

I know they used to capture Tasha2 before banding the chicks because she is so ferocious, but I didn't see that they captured Dori. Dori is only 2, so she might not be as big a threat. I did see that they captured Dorothy at COL.

I wondered why they didn't capture Harrisburg Mom like this, but then I thought "rotsa ruck" in capturing & calming her!
 :laugh
