14,000+ hits! ……
Thank you to everyone who has been following FalconCam Project.
Website hits have proven the support we’re getting from all over the world.
We love bringing this stuff to you and the current local fund-raising and marketing
push (via local TV & newspaper coverage) is providing high-profile exposure.
Our ideal objectives are to improve vision quality, enable audio and to monitor and
record 24/7, day/night, all culminating in live video streams to a web page for
all to see.

Morning feeding time on Day 8
We are also quietly touting a FalconCam Project 23-minute video presentation
at the moment which is being previewed to the public at Orange’s Biodiversity Day,
this Sunday at Orange Botanic Gardens.
It’s a really huge file (way too big to share online) so we’re working at ways that
we can make it available on request
(soundtrack copyright etc is the big sticking point!).
Stay tuned, and/or see you at the Biodiversity Day!!

Solo getting some space
Posted on 14-10-2010
A couple more video clips have been posted of Solo and parents.
Solo is beginning to sit up more often, and with Swift departing for brief sojourns
more often, and the occasional visit from dad, Beau, the big new roost is looking
even bigger with only a 10-day-old in residence.

Here’s Swift and Solo the other morning eagerly awaiting a late breakfast,
Solo alone with a visit from dad, Solo alone again with mum’s return
.
Awaiting breakfast

A visit from dad

Alone again with mum's return

Thanks for posting the videos, Kitten! :flirty: Wonder if Beau is a first-time dad? The way he acted with Solo reminds me of when Trooper was first left alone with his girls, & he kept looking for Scout to return cause he just wasn't sure what he should be doing. Looked like Solo wanted to get under Beau & get warm.

Those videos were so fun to watch. It seems like it's been FOREVER since we've seen chicks that little. :flirty:

Thanks for the post kitten.

I like being able to watch Solo move about without the jumble of siblings. Usually I can't tell where one ends and the other begins. I could really see how his wing folded against his body, for example. Beau looked befuddled....wish there was sound, Swift was really yacking!

Windy up the Concrete Hilton today
Posted on 15-10-2010
With a violent wind and rain storm passing through the Central Tablelands it’s
unpleasant up the tower but at least it’s relatively dry in the roost for Swift and Solo.
The little head hasn’t been seen often this morning with Swift taking good care
to keep Solo covered up and out of the weather.

Thanks for all the nice pictures, videos, and updates. That little Solo is so cute. :flirty:
And it looks like Emily, Frederick, and babies are doing well too.
But poor little Havoc and Ava. :-(

It is my understanding that they are believed to be nesting on the power plant, but its in a place where they can't see. They only see an adult head popping up now & then. So much for getting them away from the power plant! :x

Quiet weekend for the peregrines
Posted on 17-10-2010
Due to all members of the FalconCam Project team being involved in Orange’s
Biodiversity Day at Orange Botanic Gardens this weekend we weren’t able to
monitor the birds, but back to it again tomorrow. We did check on them yesterday
remotely during the really impressive snow storm and from the ledge camera we
could see they were truly “hunkered down” at the back of the eyrie, well sheltered
from the snow flurries and very strong wind gusts. They should consider themselves
very lucky up in the ‘Concrete Hilton’, away from most of the rain and elements.

We officially unveiled our 23.5 minute FalconCam Project movie today at the
Biodiversity Day and general reaction from the public was very positive.
With a couple of requests for copies we’re going to have to discuss the legalities
of making it available,
but at this stage it’s entirely in-house due to the soundtrack copyrights.
We’re working on it! Our next public ‘appearance’ will hopefully be at the
Australian National Field Days (at Borenore, just outside of Orange) this week.
Catch us at the Nature Conservation Trust and CMA stands!

Leaps and bounds (almost)
Posted on 18-10-2010
Today is another fine but cool day in Orange, with seemingly no lasting effects
from the spring snow flurries on Saturday. Solo is beginning to show lots of
vertical growth now, and two benchmarks today have been observed
(may have happened before but noticed extensively this morning).
Firstly there’s a video clip of Solo taking a first walk, or waddle, away from the
nest itself towards the camera (video available later), and now the self-preening
has begun. At one stage we watched as both Swift and Solo both preened
themselves together. All part of growing up.
