I usually see one of them up there every other day or so, but not like later when they're really focused on courtship, etc. People who have been watching cameras from Harrisburg and other places may have a pretty good idea of when we might expect Red Girl and CJ to be more obvious in and around the box.

That would be February-March!

Not that far off now!!! Time has flown this year. Nice with the live Cam. Weather is terrible today. Hope they fly safe. Thanks Greg for ALL your reports.

JUST HOPE THEY ARE SAFE AND SOUND SOMEWHERE WITH THE WEATHER WE HAD. YOU WOULD THINK THAT BOX WOULD PROVIDE GREAT SHELTER, DON'T KNOW WHY THEY DON'T VISIT IN THERE. I ONLY SAW OUR HARRISBURG FALCONS ONCE EACH FOR A SHORT PERIOD TODAY.

There is an office building a few blocks se on 11th Street from the Brandywine Building that has long caves at the top, two or three times falcon height, on the northeast face (like the nest box) and the southwest face, which is probably better in northeaster type situations. The falcons probably have plenty of other places around town to take shelter if they want to.

They probably do like to get out of a driving rain, although maybe not if it makes catching something else easier. But wind is not a problem for them. It's like new snow on the neighborhood hill for kids, or in the mountains for skiers. Fun.

Thanks so much Greg for your insight. Makes me feel better about their safety.

Finally, one of the falcons made quick 30-second visit to the nest box. I think it was CJ because Red Girl usually stays in the box longer.

Greg - It's nice to know that the Wilmington falcons have some sheltered spots to go to when the weather's bad. In Harrisburg, the falcons have some favorite spots by louvered heating system vents where they keep warm on cold nights.

Both falcons were together in the nest this morning. CJ's clearly visible, but only Red Girl's feet and bands are visible at the very top of the picture.

You are the ONE, Catbird. Always there for you! LOL Nice to see them on this very windy and cold day.

Thanks from me too, Catbird. You certainly have luck catching these two. Even if I had seen CJ, not sure if I would have noticed Red Girl's feet at the top of the picture.

What a lesson in the perspective of this camera lens. Red Girl is visibly bigger than CJ when they're together outside, but on the camera either one of them looks huge in the foreground or shrimpy in the background.

The wind is blowing all the feathers away. Friday there were some feathers of a really small songbird, chickadee maybe.

Thanks Greg. I was on 495 yesterday. Going over the bridge was REALLY windy. Kept thinking of them flying as I watched the Gulls fighting the wind.

Peregrines are better in wind than gulls are. At 11:15 this morning Red Girl was on the box ledge and CJ was on the corner of the roof, out in the full blast of the wind. He looked comfortable to me.

I just watched the falcons circling together outside my window. Then they split up, CJ heading north across the Brandywine River on a hunting expedition, and Red Girl carrying prey out of sight over my building (she may be perched up there eating it right now). I don't know if CJ gave it to her or not.

At 9:00 am this morning one was perched on the box ledge and the other one was perched five ledges to the left. A starling head was on the pavement below.

Nice to hear they are hanging around this winter. I don't think I would have the "stomach" to walk that sidewalk with all the birdie parts. :o

GREAT report, Greg. And glad to hear there's one less Starling in Delaware!

I DON'T THINK THE MALE BRINGS THE FEMALE FOOD ONCE THEY ARE BONDED TIGHTLY AND CJ AND RED GIRL ARE BY NOW. EVEN NEW GIRL AND LIL DAD IN HARRISBURG HAVEN'T BEEN BONDING IN THE BOX ANYMORE. AND NEW GIRL ALWAYS SHOWS UP WITH HER OWN BREAKFAST ANYMORE, SO I GUESS THEY ARE BONDED GOOD ENOUGH NOW TOO. BUT IN THE SPRING, BONDING AND LIL DAD BRINGING NEW GIRL FOOD WILL START AGAIN.

I TOO AM GLAD ABOUT THE STARLING!

ALSO, THANKS SO MUCH FOR THE PICS CATBIRD AND THE SIGHTINGS FROM YOU AND GREG AS WELL. I HAVEN'T CHECKED IN FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS AND WAS ANXIOUS TO SEE IF THEY HAVE BEEN SEEN :-) EVERYTIME I CHECK, I SEE NOBODY :-(

Another one this morning. It's bad news for the starlings if CJ has his eye in on them now.
