From the Board Index page where it lists the members on line,
I notice it always says Google(BOT). Why is a bot messing
around in our forum? They're only trouble.

Actually, that's a good thing. Search engines like Google and Yahoo send "bots" out to index Web sites with key words. That way when someone enters search words (e.g., peregrine falcon, bird cam, forum) in their search forms, appropriate sites will be displayed in the search results.

With our previous forum, it was almost impossible to find BCAW using any of the key search tools; with our new forum's domain name, it should be easier for others with interests in bird cams, peregrine falcons, etc., to find us via search engines like Google and Yahoo.

You probably were not aware of this, but on our old forum we were being "crawled" all the time!!! it was usually Google or Yahoo..you would often see "guests viewing the forum"...the majority of those "guests" were "bots" and "spiders". I could trace back the IP addresses--which led to those search engines. I don't have that ability to "see" the IP addresses of the "guests" viewing this forum...or if I do, I haven't been able to find where to do that in the administrator panel...we are able to see when a "bot" is "crawling"...I sure do wish I still could view the addresses of the "guest" though...

I am almost certain its a Microsoft issue. I was so frustrated with crashes on these cams last year. I mentioned it to DGIF or CCB, but they had not heard about it before. RichmondMike has a problem with IE at work and no problems at home with firefox.

Sure 'nuf. I have not been an IE fan/user for some time at home; for several years we've enjoyed Mozilla Firefox's awesome structure and reliability (Thunderbird too, Mozilla's excellent email program). Sometime early last year, the DGIF cam started its IE-oriented crash & burn routine, so I downloaded a copy of FF at work (shhhhhhhhh.... don't tell 'em) and cam-watching-life was good again. Then, the only issue faced at work was when the IT department buzzed me for posting to a third party board... so I had to curtail that a bit.

Suggest that you try FF out - you will get hooked on its ease, speed and reliability!

Nice caps everybody! BTW -- I subscribe to the slippery aluminum ledge theory too. Now I just hope that the scrape/pen setup allows the chicks to find some sort of afternoon shade as the temps for the next three days are forecasted as 92, 95+ and 95.... welcome to Richmond lil ones.

BTW - one of the bestest functions of cam watching with FF is using the "Ctrl" and "+" buttons, which acts like a zoom and pumps up the image (allowing you to get crisp, clear and seemingly closer captures). If you want to back off a bit, use "Ctrl" and "-"...

Nice pic, Joanne--even with the spider webs! :)

I was thinking that about the white feet yesterday. I could see Arnie's feet & one of the girls, but I kept trying to see the other girl's feet before making that assumption.

I also think that Ethel (in the scrape) always grabs the prey and hides!

Does anyone know why the camera has to zoom in when that
does not enhance any picture taking :?: Why can't they pull it
back so we can get a better view especially when it's feeding
time and then leave it there :!: :?: Now that the cage is up,
the fun picture taking is gone. We'll have to wait until they're
released to get any good shots. And that's questionable because
unless they board up the end down from the scrape, all three will
be off and around the corner and we won't be able to watch out for
them in case of dangerous happenings.

They need to attach some wide strips of that green grassy stuff like we
see at other scrapes so their footing will be more secure. If this scrape
is expected to be used for years to come, and given the history now,
then do something to make it secure. All it takes is a bit of imagination
and letting the moths out of the budget purse :!:

Yeah, I do, especially if there's a glare problem!

Guess what, you can do the same with IE...that is before it crashes...

Well, now I know why everyone always has better pics than I do! I am a slow learner, but once I catch on...watch out! :geek:

Gingersnap...Steve just changed the camera view for you :D Thanks Steve!
