he is a parent in training. I think all will be fine. our Chase at Edmonton did this his first year. He came in after eggs laid and other male gone.
and at hatch, he sometimes would let Radisson take prey by tug a war and others he would take off with it.
But he ended up begin ga great male. lots of hair pulled out with him :girlcrazy:

Many are wondering why Bridget was feeding her "adult" child.

this is a learning thing Jane. I have seen it a few times. deMortel was one of sites years back when Pa went missing. Long story short, she had to teach young male many things but Like this 2 year old male, he stood and watched her feed. Then Vv gave him a piece and then the chicks. she did this a few times. It stimulates them to realize that the prey is to feed and how to do it. the difference was VV was a seasoned female, Bridget is young also, but doing so well.
yesterday after a feed , young male watched, I noticed that he went over an d beaked the young one. Some may have been afraid, but I watched him carefully as he did this.

He is learning. my RAdisson had to do same when Chase came in . He turned out to be a great male

it is no t always a natural thing. sometimes they need ot be taught.

I don't know her exact age, but Bridget is not really young. She is around 11 years old. Her second year in Wilmington. Her whereabouts before this are unknown.

Why? Don't know..but have seen it quite a few times at other nests. Bonding? Teaching? I've seen variations. Parent feeds parent...Parent feeds parent who feeds chicks..parent tries to feed chicks but other parent intercepts and consumes the bite..

This morning:

Mom feeds the kids

Dad drops in and Mom feeds Dad

Bridget is our Niecey's younger sister. Same parents. Niecey hatched in 2009, so I think Bridget hatched in 2013.

thanks Jane.

I think the male is doing what he should be doing at age 2. he came in late. He will get there
He hunts and that is key.
we cannot compare to previous males. He is his own person and will learn :15heartbeat:

he brought prey to ledge this morning after 6 am . Bridget wen t and retrieved and fed chicks. sometimes he may bring not ledge and fly off with it. I have seen him fly above with prey. ( takes time) I am pleased with his progress

Kids are looking good. I must say, I am enjoying this . He is interested in what is happening and this is how he will learn.
She is very patient

Sit back and learn as he does. How often, are you able to witness this. Some are so used to the perfect scenarios , that we forget, every year, every falcon, every site, is different. A changing world

Posts about feeding are appreciated. I saw a good feeding last night around 7:00. Also read elsewhere a while ago that Stewart was mating today with Bridget. I did not see that myself.
