Tsusan, the factory explosion was in West Reading, not Reading itself. I would imagine it could be heard in downtown Reading, though. Thanks for your concern. Certainly is tragic.

Thankyou very much for the reply, Jane. So glad it didn’t affect the Reading falcons!

She's shielding her egg with her wings out slightly from the direct afternoon sun.

:15heartbeat: Watched her for quite awhile in the nest and kept wondering if she was preparing to lay the 2nd egg from her actions, but nothing. She left and he stood over the egg for a short bit, then left. Quite the delay for the 2nd egg as it has been > 4.5 days since the 1st egg laid. Hoping she is okay...

:15heartbeat: It's not looking good here. She's over by the column on the edge of the ledge and still 1 egg that is not incubated and over 5 days since laid without a 2nd egg. I wonder if there will be any chicks here this season. I really feel badly for her...

Not sure what is going on here. It's probably safe to say that her first egg is not going to hatch. Saw her in the scrape earlier this morning, but it didn't appear that she was trying to lay another one. Quite cooncerning.

thanks for the coverage here...I still can't get this cam.

I'm holding on to the knowledge that years ago, in Columbus, there were 7 days between Scout's first egg and second egg...and that first egg was so neglected...even in freezing temps. It all turned out fine...and the full clutch hatched!!

Fingers crossed for the same outcome here.

:eggthumb: Thanks so much for that, sky! Scout was before my time. I knew there could be 6 or 7 days between a 1st egg and last egg with eggs laid in between, but had never seen such between a 1st and 2nd egg. I even went on line in search of info on the matter, but did not come up with anything.

Edit to add: I just went in and she was actually incubating. Didn't know without DVR if a 2nd egg had been laid, so went to blog and there is no mention of a 2nd egg, but good to see her incubating!
