that is M27 SGB. I manged to get full read earlier on. We almost have males band but cannot get 3rd digit.

I am gobsmacked here. cannot get out there during the week with teaching, but they do no t seem to be using box. their feet are real dirty, and I have the plant looking for roosting.

a real puzzle that Peter and i hope to solve

Currently a falcon on cam...and I can tell by its behavior, that something is "buzzing" the box...no idea if its another falcon.

we have quite the mess here.

Peter and I have been going out when we have a few spare hours as you have to be there for at least 3. We could not make it last weekend but will be going this weekend.

We appear to have at least 2 other falcons around. the one you have a pciutre o f, is no t a resident

We know she has laid eggs but now to find them . they are not in vent.

thanks for checking in SGb

this is not resident bird, but resident male and female around, as they occasionally come to box briefly..

Peter and I have been out several times and sat over 3 hours each time, looking in every spot we know. We have seen falcons at times but cannot know if ours. When we were out on Sunday, we went quite awhile before we saw anything. we did see one at a time , and then after abut 2 hours we saw 2 soaring and one land , where they do not usually.

We are trying go piece together what we see. We do believe they are eggs , somewhere there. I am in contact with the manager of plant and I am emailing tomorrow for them to check out another spot.

something had to have happened before cam went up. It there is a lot of unfriendly traffic around, it can cause them to change where they lay eggs. We have seen this at Montreal this year. this happened here twice before , bu t not with this female. We had this at bell with E4. she was attacked twice on ledge and so she nested just a few blocks away.

We have seen at least 2 others around

We will persevere. It is just that our time is limited till mid June.
will post a few pictures later tonight

Peter and emyrauld and I knew M27 and male weren nesting somewhere at Genesse. Peter and I went out several times. Everything we saw on cam and when we went out there , pointed to that .

So now we have proof, a few days ago we had one kid follow adults to box and stayed there and now tonight, we have 2 kids that stayed the night.
I will post pictures when I can . Very busy and stressful right now

emyrauld and I knew we had at least 3 as markings were different. last night we got the proof we needed.

have not had time to watch much but keep cam on record.

a youngster had come in from walkway to box, an d then flew out quickly and then one returns , then one goes to roof and out to left and then another goes onto roof , could still see tail of 2nd one at left rail up top. other one on roof went off to right and then one on walkway, comes into box, and one is still on left. 3 youngsters. one is female for sure

we have been toying with 4m but doubt we will get 4 together..

Another falcon is trying to get into the box but because of the high wind is having a real hard time.

the wind has always been a problem.

banded male returns this afternoon . it is our resident male . this female is not our resident female. WE believe her to be the youngster hanging around last year, thus our falcons nesting on other side of plant.
If our girl does not show up, then she must be retirement. One never know s when they migrate, so I picture them on a beach in Mexico slurping pigeon margaritas LOl

She is an eager one. lighter coloring than what we usually see. Sh e does look like out unbanded female at the Mis but of course we will never know.
hopefully we can get out there in next few weeks .

went back and looked at pictures from las t year and thi s female has exact markings of one that came in last year, but M27 kept chasing her out and then nested at other side of plant.

the females are usually back here mid march, so who knows what has happened before cam went up . bu t I like to think positive
So this is a good male so hopefully they nest in box and the season is drama free

later this evening I will post pictures and picture of unbanded intruder form last year.

pictures
when male firs t made an appearance for this year
Image
male( I have watched him so much , I know it is him) We think we know who it is but never could get a positive read on bands. A guess. they used to have a sharper cam , bu t wont complain
Image
bonding in box
Image
he brings in prey and she is dead on his heels
Image
and he really does not want her to have but she staysin box with it , with him
Image

thi s was comical because M27 would have been out of there wit hit LOl
