Such cute pictures of the chicks in the hack box at Shenandoah! I hope they all fledge successfully from there.

Great pictures of JJ (he sure looks like his dad) and Elizabeth. I think this is the first year we've been able to observe the adults after the chicks were gone (except for last year, of course).

Here's an update from Rolf Gubler, the biologist at the hack site. Very good news!

May 30 - 7 peregrines (4 male, 3 female) were released from the Hacksite
in the North District. The release went well and all but one of the
Peregrines were flying by the end of the first day.

Since then, there has been no interference from vultures, ravens, raptors,
or territorial peregrines.

June 3 - All seven peregrines were sighted. 6 out of 7 were seen
feeding.

June 4 - five out of seven Pefs sighted by 0841.

All peregrines are flying well. The males often perch in a nearby Tower
which overlooks the entire area. They're actively defending their site
from turkey vultures looking for food.

The last peregrine (a female) is slated to be released Wednesday, June 6
(tentatively).
