O/T post:

So, on the Yahoo Forum, there are night checks of a few locations downtown. Both Monday & Tuesday, there has been a peregrine roosting in a nightly sleep spot at the TWB (Tall White Building) where FC hung out before he arrived.

More interesting, a peregrine at SJSU has been spotted both days also. This was EC's nightly roosting location. So, it appears EC is still "on territory". And I'm not clear if the bird on the TWB is "Taylor". She's a big bird and has been known to disappear once young hatch/fledge. She may just be the persistent intruder seen over the last few weeks as she somewhat bonded with FC before he took over the City Hall site. But, who really knows. This has been an interesting year.

So, this makes me wonder in Rochester, can Archer stay close as long as he doesn't challenge Dotca? Maybe....

Those who have followed the young from this nest will be happy to know:

1) 99S - Shadow (2011) was spotted last week in Palo Alto looking handsome, healthy and with a full crop.

2) Hiko and his new mate Tremaine are currently incubating.

3) Marina - Hiko & Haya's girl from last year who was shot and attempted rehab with Glenn Stewart is doing well. She is permanently injured and not releasable, but the goal was to get her in a breeding program. Well, Glenn still has her, and is working through the "red tape" to get her in the program.

4) Haya is still with a rehabber being evaluated to determine if she is releasable.

Info obtained from SF_PGE_Falcons Yahoo Group, SFBAY Raptors Yahoo Group

I was wondering the same thing! Maybe Archer & Beauty can both stay near as long as they don't challenge Unity or DC. Beauty might be happy to give up the nestbox in exchange for having Archer to herself! :egg7:

He's like, what the heck was that? Left shortly afterwards and Clara came to the eggs, but only stayed a little while then left suddenly ( possible food delivery) and now he is back in action. It has taken him quite a while to get situated. It must be close, right?

Clara on the eggs, FC standing by. Pretty sure I saw Clara eating on the louver a little earlier.

I'm posting this from the SJ Yahoo Group. Glenn Stewart's visit to City Hall today.

I took my own advice and visited the 4th Street garage this evening. Fernando "the rocket" put on an extraordinary show by dominating the windy airspace five blocks to the east and five blocks to the west of City Hall for quite some time. Most of the time he was but a speck in the sky that slipped in and out of naked-eye vision. In a significant moment, he encountered another peregrine one thousand or more feet above the city that was non-aggressive--they merely passed momentarily and the third bird carried on out of sight.

I saw Clara leave the nest as Nancy reported above--it seemed abrupt and she left paddling at full tilt to the south and disappeared behind the MLK library. Soon enough, she returned with a small food item and consumed it on the louver.

By contrast a pair that I watched in a wooded canyon last evening was very active until it was too dark to see. The waterfall at the head of the canyon provided a different backdrop than City Hall, but at both locations, the flights were extraordinary. I recommend a City Hall/4th Street garage visit to all. --glenn@scpbrg

I really appreciate how he provides info on peregrines who nest outside of urban areas. Also, confirms why Fernando got his name Fernando El Cohote.

I'm really starting to have a little girl crush on this tiercel. When I read about him flying around fast, makes me think about the flying shows Dotca is doing in Rochester.

Mwplay, I also feel a lot of admiration for FC and see the similarities between him & DC! :egg 19: Some of the people watching the Rochester cam keep getting nervous that DC is going to destroy Archer's egg, but after watching FC incubating the eggs that aren't his, I believe DC will be a great father for all of Unity's chicks!

A little earlier, FC.

He leaves the nest and Clara in for the night at 7:41. I did not see a hatch.

Looks like we are very close in San Jose. The "poop" egg they thought was broken when FC arrived looks like it has a hole in it now and FC is moving around, looking at it like crazy. Clara is currently on a break.

Look just to the left of the poop.

Does it look like a hole to anyone else?

Can't wait. San Jose drama is mesmerizing, too.

Strange, FC was settling on the eggs with prey on his beak. I assume that he had just made a delivery. Suddenly Clara appears in the nestbox with the prey in her beak and he leaves. She then flies down the runway with the prey and returns shortly without it. I guess that she stashed it. I remember in years past that she has been very particular about being on the eggs when they hatch and for some days afterwards so I was wondering why FC was getting so much egg time.

Nice picture mwplay.

Hi Ljames - I was just thinking the same thing. I remember, I think EC's first year, he was on egg duty when first hatch occurred. After that, and for the years they were mates, Clara was glued on the nest and wouldn't let him feed or take brooding duty for the first few days. Funny.

I thought she was trying to feed something, or was going to stash in the corner for later that night. It sure didn't seem like FC wanted to get off those eggs!

He's really stepped up and become a good mate. I look forward to watching him with the eyasses and also to seeing them bond next year!

Hoping we can catch a hatch before the sun goes down!
