Thank you for checking, Reenie! And thank you for the great bonding video!

The cam is still down. From here, the live stream only works for a few minutes and stops. Getting it back again ranges from difficult to impossible. I hope they will be able to fix the bugs in the new system so that it will be more reliable.

Sorry you're having trouble with the cam view, Alison. Haven't seen a falcon yet this morning. We're having some light fluffy snow right now. Was out on my deck a bit ago to fill the bird feeders. This stuff is real powdery, and if it was windy would be blowing all over the place.

Oh the snow looks perfect for snow ice cream. Hope Niecey and Lil' Dad are at one of those warm vents somewhere and no band is in another state.

My cam view has been nighttime since Dec 27th. It says Dec 27 2012 7:43:47 PM. Makes me mad! :tissue:

PA Cast is the live video and PA Falcon Cam-Connecting You with PA Wildlife is the still cam. That's the one that's stuck. I checked several times today and didn't see any falcons. Maybe Lil Dad took Niecey away with him for a while. Hopefully not.

Where do I find the PA Cast? All I have is the PA Falcon Cam.

THE SUN IS COMING OUT NOW. LIL DAD MOVED TO THE SHIELD. I GOT UP TWO DAYS VERY EARLY TO CATCH THEM HERE IN THE DARK AND THEY DIDN'T SHOW. THEN ONE DAY I SLEEP IN JUST A BIT AND THERE THEY ARE!

Niecey jumped on the shield from the nest and Lil Dad flew away, but you could see him fly up and land on the other side of the column.

Thought it looked like a falcon sitting in front of the windows over at the U, but whatever it is shows on the posted stills, so whatever it is isn't a bird. I don't mean that thing near the silver pole, either. I might be downtown for a short visit later, but won't be able to hang around. The wind is biting cold.

How old is Lil Dad? Didn't someone say a while back that he's now 12? How long does a falcon live in the wild? I worry that his territory may be taken over and that No Band is hanging around to do just that when breeding season starts.

Hello BevB and Welcome to BCAW! Glad you have joined us. :newyearclap:

How long does a falcon live in the wild? Well, it varies, but Kinney at the Indianapolis nest lived to be 19. He held his territory for 18 of those years, until his death this year.

Bev, welcome to BCAW! :grwelcom

Good question! Lil Dad fledged from the Walt Whitman Bridge in Philadelphia in 2003, so that will make him 10 next year. I have read different ages for the average age a peregrine lives in the wild, but 10 is "getting up there". We went through this last year when another tiercel was hanging around, but he disappeared shortly after nesting season began, so I guess that's why we aren't terribly worried this year. (A bit concerned, but not like last year.) Please feel free to ask any questions you have or make any comments! :happynewyear:

Thanks for the welcome. I have been watching the falcons in Harrisburg - I live right across the Susquehanna River from there - for years and have been reading this forum for quite a while.

That's impressive that Kinney in Indianapolis held his territory for so long. Hope Lil Dad can do that, too, but you always worry when a new falcon shows up.
