Oh my! :15heartbeat: I hope #2 hatches tomorrow so there won't be so much size difference!

:gaah: At 10:56, you can see the chick, egg, 1/2 of shell. But at 11:07 the next view shows something that I am unsure of. The egg appears slightly offset and I am concerned that part of the shell from hatching earlier is over the end of the egg or is the egg hatching or is this a shadow causing a distortion? At 11:56, the next view shows the chick with it's head caught in part of the shell that it hatched from and the chick is able to free it's head at 11:57. Nic feeds the chick for it's 1st time at 2:10, but the rest of the bowl is obscured. The pipped area EC referred to can be seen again at 4:54. The chick is strong and already this afternoon you can see it's head popping up on the main cam. Victoria does the 2nd feed at about 5:38. Third feed starts at about 6:10, but blocked initially by Victoria. Do not see any offset of egg this view.

:1val: Saw on the 1st EC chat today, when someone questioned the mod about the shell half piece over the end of the unhatched egg, she said it came off during an egg roll. She did not indicate what time it came off, but I know it did not have the same offset look last night. Hoping both halves stay out of the way or they discard them, if not already done. They showed a capture of the pip on the egg that appeared to be progressing a little, during their 2nd chat. Really want the 2nd egg to hatch today! EC3 seems to be a particularly hearty, chick from the get-go and hoping EC4 is too!!

:girlsad3: Victoria had an intruder at 12:52 am. She alerted and thrust her wings out at it while she remained over the bowl and then slapped her wings against the nest a couple of times. Thinking the owl may be back that visited her recently. I could hear Nicholas alert nearby, but unable to see him. You can't see the pulled back view of the nest tree as EC has cam 3 on Nicholas who is sleeping on the snag. When I went to cam 3 to see how Nicholas responded to the event, he was not there. So I went back on the DVR and found out Nicholas was hit on the chest by the talons of an owl I assume, while he was preening. It knocked him backward and down from the snag limb he was on. This incident was at 12:45. So I went back to the nest cam at that time and sure enough, you could hear the incident as did Victoria by her actions. Such a shame they are dealing with this and especially Victoria as she has EC3 under her and an actively hatching egg. The last time I saw the part of the egg that EC 4 is working on, it was not quite a 1/4 around crack yet. Unfortunately, the cracked side has been face down for awhile. From the cow cam, I believe Nicholas is fine as I saw 2 flying and believe it was Nicholas chasing the owl. Later from the cow cam, you can see something appear on the limbs, hear Victoria alert and see Nicholas I assume fly immediately to the tree and hear his alerts. So, I believe he is okay.

:7val: :hatchegg: :hatchegg: Welcome EC4!! Congratulations, Victoria and Nicholas!! :7val:

Technically, EC4 still has the half shell on his head, but Eagle Country has called it! He seems strong, just can't get that head away from that shell quite yet.

EC4's head is completely free as seen in the 8:15 feed of EC3. Neck muscles are still weak
