:egg8: B slept most of the afternoon away. But he did manage to get some more jumping and winging in. Squirrel was back on the menu today along with fish. Mom is on the left branch sleeping with her head tucked and B is lying on the nest sleeping with his head tucked.

:egg8: Another routine day for the family. Mom left before dark and flew to the rear to roost back there for the night, so B is alone and it is raining and has been heavy at times.

:egg8: Today B was finally on the part of the left branch that we usually see his parents perched on and he spent awhile there. Some hop-flying across the nest to land on the rails. More fish to eat today. B is alone again tonight on the nest. Could hear Pa and Mom vocals back and forth from wherever they are perched in the rear awhile ago.

:egg8: Missed most of today's action, but did see B doing lots of hopping and winging with nerve-racking stops on the rails just in time! Also in addition to B being on the left branch, he was on the right branch for a couple of seconds. Rocky also stopped by the nest this evening, but B slept through the visit. Bel has a video, but I was unable to find it. B is alone on the nest again tonight. I did not get to see Pa or Mom today and know from reading chat that she was there and I think he may have been, but not certain.

:eggthumb: B had another great day and you can tell he is getting stronger and more confident. A special treat tonight as not only B, but Pa and Mom are spending the night so far. Mom is on the left branch and Pa is on the rear left, branch. B is sleeping while standing near the left rails.

:egg8: Another great day although there probably was an intruder earlier from Pa and Mom's reactions. They did end up spending the whole night last night. Both brought in fish for B. He is doing pretty good now with self feeds of fish, but seems to need to work on mammals still. B was on the left branch several times and does go up it sometimes and out of cam view unless you go to the app. B is sleeping on the nest.

:egg8: Another good day for B. Fish on the menu again. Still getting on the branches and made it farther out on the right branch today. At dusk he went to the left branch and did sleep there for awhile this evening before deciding to return to the nest. While there he either heard something that woke him and caused him to lose his balance or he simply lost it while sleeping, but he used his wings to regain control. Both parents were in today.

:eggthumb: The big news today is very young eagle (still all brown) was flying around above the nest tree out of view, but we could see B who was lying on the nest tracking it. Then you could see a shadow go across the nest from a flyover above it. Next the intruder flew down at the back of the nest and possibly striking the rear rail as B got up and was turning to face the intruder and threw his wings out, but by the time B was completely turned to face the intruder it had already dropped below the nest. Mom flew in with a fish for B within a minute and she started alerting to the intruder and soon settled down. We never saw the intruder again but B certainly showed he was ready to defend the nest.

There was a gathering of some chatters and B3BB's today at the nest and it was reported more trees were down at Berry from last night's storm and some of them were near the nest tree again. B is currently sleeping with his head tucked on the left rear, rails.

:egg8: No more drama over the last couple days as the young eagle intruder did not return. B has been eating and resting between bouts of jumping, winging and branching. He was out of nest cam view for awhile today. The app cam was back up finally today. They have had a lot of fish and Pa brought in a duck today that all 3 have fed on. Mom spent the night last night and she is here again tonight. B could possibly fledge within the next 2 weeks.

:egg19: Earlier this evening B was on the left branch trying to sleep while shaking the insects from his head. He just now finished eating on the nest and feaked on the rails. Mom is not spending the night tonight, but both parents were in today.

:eggthumb: Wednesday was more of the same with Pa bringing fish in for B to eat and such, but today B was very active and here, there and everywhere. He acted as if he could fledge at anytime, but didn't. The app was down for most of the daylight hours, but finally was restored. Mom brought in a huge fish today. Tonight so far, B is sleeping on the left rear, branch and can be seen in the upper left, quad of the nest cam.

:eggthumb: It was reported by a Berry chatter who visited the nest today that B was taking flights after his fledge. The last report we received from her stated that B had been on a branch in a tree for about 3 hours and Pa was in a tree nearby.
We did see Mom come into the nest with a large fish and a little later Pa arrived with a smaller fish. They both ate some of what they brought in and each others. Pa came back later in the day and ate more. B never showed up to the nest after his fledge, but we did see a fly by from B per the app cam later in the morning and that showed as a shadow across the nest from the nest cam. Unfortunately, the app cam went "off air" later in the day and hoping Berry will get that back up tomorrow morning as it is crucial at this time.
Another person with connections to the chat will be at the nest tomorrow and will be reporting on what she sees to the Berry chat during her stay.

:eggthumb: B flew to the nest tree (1st time since fledge yesterday) at 9:35 this morning per the app cam with Mom following him in seconds later to the left branch. I remember last season she followed B15 everywhere he went initially after his fledge. Then per the nest cam at 9:32 (cams are not in sync with times) B made it to the right rails, then down into the nest. Here is a video by Bel-a-Donna of B's return to the nest tree and nest:

"Berry College Eagles: B16 Returns to Nest Post-Fledge"

And Bel's summary below the video:

Apr 10, 2023 BERRY COLLEGE
"After a successful fledge on 4/9/23 and spending the night off the nest, B16 lands on the right-side branches then to the nest. Missy flew in right behind B16 and landed on the left (launch) branch. B16 is 78 days old (will be 79 days at 5:38pm)."

:flirty: B stayed on the nest all day to eat and rest. Mom and Dad brought in food. Sometimes he self-fed and other times they fed him. He did fly out for 2 quick trips and I think the longest one was for about 4 minutes before he returned to the nest. His landings aren't too bad, the 1st one he tipped forward just a little as he seemed to fly in from a higher angle than we see the adults do and the 2nd one was a running stop. He is staying the night and Rocky has been around several times, once going right up to B to have a closer look and sniff perhaps. Currently B is asleep with his head tucked and on the LB.
